Cedar is a tree species with a spindle, and the top has a strong advantage. Its natural tree shape is a steeple, so be sure to protect the top when pruning. If the tip is soft and drooping, bamboo poles or wooden sticks can be used to assist the main tip to stand upright; If the branch is double-branched, choose a strong branch as the main tip, trim the other branch, and leave small side branches under the incision. When there are thicker lateral branches near the top competing with the main shoot, the competing branches must be cut short to weaken the growth potential, which is beneficial to the growth of the main shoot.
2. Rational layout of main roads
Reasonable arrangement of main branches, not too many main branches, so as not to distract nutrition, there should be a certain interval between main branches on each floor. There are branches of different sizes on the main branch of the same layer. If they are too dense and have many fine branches, some of them can be thinned. If there are thick branches, they can be removed year by year, that is, they are cut short to branches first and then thinned every other year. The main branches can't be cut short. If the main branch is damaged, it can be replaced by a strong side branch nearby. For the upper branches of branches, they should be weakened and kept strong, drooping and flat. However, the strong branches at the lower part of the trunk should not be cut off easily. Just shrink the strong branches, overlapping branches, over-dense branches and cross branches to better oblique branches or drooping branches, and then loosen the strength. In this way, the whole tree can be balanced, well-proportioned, beautiful and generous, and the spire-shaped tree can be guaranteed.
Correcting crown deviation
Cedar young trees often have a phenomenon of partial crown, which makes the crown appear gap and must be corrected from an early age. Use rope to pull up the branches that are too densely distributed to fill the gaps nearby, or in spring, choose appropriate empty parts to do eye injuries and stimulate buds to sprout branches to fill the gaps.
