How should the rose be pruned?
Pruning and shaping of Chinese rose: (1) After Tomb-Sweeping Day, it is the meticulous pruning of Chinese rose when it leaves the cellar. The robust branches of Chinese rose flowers should be selected and left, and other branches, weak branches, crossed branches and excessively dense branches should be cut off. The selected branches should have 3-5 bud eyes from the base, and the upper branches should be cut off, so that the plants can absorb a lot of nutrients from the soil and supply them to the leaves with branches after pruning. Remember to prune after germination. Pruning will affect the first flowering, and the growth height should be consistent. Each plant can retain 3 ~ 5 main branches and 7 branches at most.

(2) Mid-term pruning of roses, mainly cutting off budding branches of grafted seedlings. After flowering, cut off the residual flowers with leaves and remove the excess buds. After the first flowering, the delicate flower branches are cut off from the base, and the other robust flower branches are cut off from the 2-3 leaves of the residual flowers. During the second flowering, the methods of thinning weak branches, keeping strong branches and strengthening buds can still be used.

(3) Chinese rose should be pruned 1 time before overwintering, but not too early. When pruning Chinese roses, we should not only choose strong branches, but also pay attention to the consistency between master and slave. Large-flowered varieties should have 4-6 strong branches, and the side with strong buds should be selected at 30-40 cm for each branch, and the upper branches should be cut off. For vines and vine varieties, remove old branches, weak branches and pests and diseases.
