Tea trees in Yuexi generally grow in valleys with slopes above 500 meters above sea level. The ecological environment of tea garden is unique. The surrounding mountains are rolling, clouds are lingering, springs are flowing, the climate is mild, the sunshine is short, the temperature difference between day and night is large, and the rain and dew are moist. The tea produced is fat, fragrant, fresh and green, forming the excellent quality of famous tea.

Yuexi famous tea was officially named as "Cuilan Yuexi" by Anhui New Famous Tea and Famous Tea Appraisal Committee in May 1985.
