Including proper vocal cord rest, correcting bad vocal habits, drugs and surgical treatment.

1. General therapy

Vocal cord rest: Early vocal nodules often become smaller or disappear after proper vocal cord rest. Children's vocal nodules may also disappear by themselves during adolescence. Even if the larger nodules can't disappear, the sound can be improved. If the vocal cords have rested for 2 ~ 3 weeks and the nodules have not obviously become smaller, other treatment measures should be taken, because the vocal cord muscles are inactive for a long time, which is not good for vocalization.

Vocal training: Vocal nodule patients often disappear after a period of vocal training. Vocal music training can make better use of vocal cavity, coordinate the functions of breathing, vibration, singing and biting, change the wrong habit of improper use of voice, relieve the tension of throat, and finally achieve scientific pronunciation.

In addition, smoking, drinking and eating spicy food should be restricted to avoid pathogenic factors such as coffee and strong tea.

2. Drug therapy

Physical therapy and aerosol inhalation can be performed locally.

Antiacid drug therapy: inhibit gastric acid secretion, relieve chronic inflammation of throat mucosa caused by throat reflux, and treat and prevent vocal nodules.

3. Surgical therapy

Excision of vocal nodules: for larger vocal nodules, if rest, medication or vocal training are ineffective, surgical resection can be considered. There are many surgical methods, depending on the size and location of the nodule. Smaller nodules can be removed by fiber laryngoscope or electronic laryngoscope under topical anesthesia. However, with the development of laryngeal microsurgery technology, most patients with vocal nodules undergo microscope-assisted laser resection under the support laryngoscope after general anesthesia and micro-instrument flap surgery. At present, the technology of oral and laryngeal surgery is becoming more and more mature, and various types of lasers, micro-instruments and plasma knives are changing with each passing day.
