Short-branch Red Fuji apple belongs to short-branch variety, which mainly bears middle and short branches, with small proportion of long branches and easy crown control. It is suggested that slender spindle-shaped pruning should be adopted, the height of the tree should be controlled at about 3 meters, and about 20 main branches (fruiting branches) should be directly cultivated on the central trunk. The opening angle of the main branches is about 90, the length of the main branches is about 70-80 cm, and the spacing between rows is about 2 meters, which is convenient for field management such as mechanized spraying.
In this planting mode, because the spindle-shaped trees are slender, the center of gravity is unstable, and the fruits are easy to fall off after landing, it is necessary to build a grape trellis fence to fix the apple trees and keep the central stems upright, which is the key measure for the success of this planting mode.
