Nanjing Yuhua tea is a treasure among fried green teas and one of the three needles in China. It is a high-quality, delicate needle-shaped spring tea. When the tea buds sprout to one bud and three leaves, it is mined about ten days before the Qingming Festival. Until the Qingming Festival, only one bud and one leaf are selected, and the tea buds with a length of 2 to 3 centimeters are picked, dried, rolled, shaped and dried, then hand-fried with black tar oil. Origin Distribution
The production areas of Nanjing Yuhua Tea have expanded from the origin of Nanjing Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and Nanjing Yuhuatai Scenic Area to Qixia, Pukou, Jiangning, Jiangpu, Liuhe, Lishui, and Gaochun Districts.
Nanjing tea trees are mostly planted on hilly yellow soil slopes with good soil quality and sufficient moisture. It has undulating hills and mountains, with an altitude of only about 60 meters. It has acidic yellow-brown soil, an average annual temperature of 15.5°C, a frost-free period of 225 days, and an annual precipitation of 900 to 1,000 mm.
