Steel plate should have good mechanical properties (such as strength, impact toughness, etc. ), weldability, corrosion resistance and low aging sensitivity. The following describes several commonly used welding processes.

Acid covered electrode process

It has good performance and weak sensitivity to rust and moisture, and can be welded by AC welder, but the impact toughness and crack resistance of the weld are poor.

Low hydrogen alkaline covered electrode process

Low hydrogen alkaline covered electrode has fewer welding cracks and improved impact toughness. However, it has poor manufacturability, strong sensitivity to corrosion and moisture, and is prone to porosity. Special attention should be paid to the drying of covered electrode, and DC welding machine should be used for welding.
