1907 and 19 14 years, British Hungarian Markalestein (1862- 1943) made his second and third expeditions to Central Asia, and successively excavated Han bamboo slips from Dunhuang to Jiuquan, Zhangye and Ejina Banner. From 1930 to 193 1 year, the Swedish archaeologist Begemann, a member of the Sino-Swiss Northwest Scientific Expedition, discovered more than1/0/000 Han Dynasty bamboo slips in Juyan area, which was a great achievement of the Sino-Swiss Northwest Scientific Expedition at that time. After 1949, Wuwei discovered more than 460 bamboo slips of Yi Li, medical bamboo slips and Zhang Wang bamboo slips, more than 8,400 new bamboo slips of Juyan (Jiaqu Daiguan), more than 65,438 bamboo slips of Shoushui Jinguan, more than 65,438 bamboo slips of Maquanwan in Dunhuang and more than 20 bamboo slips of Gangu. In addition, there are some scattered wooden slips in Tibetan and Xixia. Gansu is a big province of bamboo slips in Han dynasty, with a large number of excavations, the earliest discovery and the longest research history since modern times. It is an important field for Chinese and foreign scholars to study history, culture, the Silk Road, Sino-foreign relations and the northwest frontier.
The specialized organization for sorting out and studying bamboo slips in Gansu began at 1986. After the Gansu Provincial Museum was separated from the Gansu Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, the "Han Bamboo Slips Research Room" became the internal organization of the Gansu Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology. Since 2005, the protection, arrangement, research and utilization of Gansu bamboo slips have attracted strong attention from all walks of life inside and outside the province. CPPCC members and deputies to the National People's Congress put forward proposals and suggestions every year, hoping that relevant departments will attach importance to and strengthen the protection and utilization of Gansu bamboo slips and give full play to their due benefits as cultural resources with distinctive advantages. In 2007, the provincial editorial board approved the Gansu Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology to add the brand of "Gansu Bamboo Slips Protection and Research Center", and added eight staff members to be responsible for the protection, sorting, research and utilization of bamboo slips unearthed in Gansu, and gave support in terms of land use, housing and funds.
After the establishment of Gansu Bamboo Slips Protection Research Center, the research on the protection and arrangement of Gansu bamboo slips has reached a new level. First, start the protection work in an all-round way, dehydrate, decolorize, finalize the design, sterilize, strengthen and package the bamboo slips of Fangmatan that have been soaked in water for a long time, and take or are taking effective measures to scientifically protect the bamboo slips unearthed in Hexi; Great achievements have been made in the finishing work, and the preliminary text interpretation has been completed. The Han bamboo slips of Shou Shui Jin Guan, which have been delayed for forty years, have been published one after another, and now they have been published in one, two or three volumes, making them enter the field of academic research. From 20 14 to 20 15, all five volumes of this book will be published. The sorting and interpretation of Han bamboo slips in Xuanquan have also been basically completed, and will be published one after another from next year, and strive to be published in a few years. Gansu Bamboo Slips Research Center also organized experts to visit Juyan, Dunhuang and other places, held the second international symposium on bamboo slips in Gansu Province, the international symposium on the ruins of Juyan and the Silk Road, and published the Collection of Essays, the Field Investigation Collection of Dunhuang Bamboo Slips in Juyan and the Second International Symposium Collection of Bamboo Slips in Gansu Province.
With the implementation of the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the Seventeenth Central Committee and the proposal of the construction strategy of "Chinese Civilization Inheritance and Innovation Zone" by the Gansu Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government, the Gansu Bamboo Slips Museum was established on the basis of "Gansu Bamboo Slips Protection Research Center", which made the bamboo slips, a characteristic cultural resource, play a greater role in the economic and cultural construction of the province and become the knowledge of leaders at all levels and all walks of life. At present, the construction of "Gansu Bamboo Slips Museum" has been included in the major project of the province's "Huaxia Civilization Inheritance and Innovation Zone", which has been highly valued by the provincial party committee and government and strongly supported by National Cultural Heritage Administration. Long-term planning of site selection, project establishment, museum construction, protection, arrangement, research and exhibition is being actively carried out. Strive to build a modern professional museum with scientific planning, advanced design and complete functions within three years, and add a landmark building to Gansu's cultural construction.
