There are eight mining bureaus in Shanxi from north to south: Datong Mining Bureau, Xuangang Mining Bureau, Xishan Mining Bureau, Fenxi Mining Bureau, Yangquan Mining Bureau, Huozhou Mining Bureau, Lu 'an Mining Bureau and Jincheng Mining Bureau. With the reform of state-owned enterprises, these enterprises directly under the central government have been decentralized to state-owned enterprises in Shanxi Province and are under the jurisdiction of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Shanxi Province. Moreover, new changes have taken place in these eight mining bureaus: Xuangang was merged by Datong Mining Bureau, and China Coal Carrier Datong Coal Mine Group was established in conjunction with some local coal enterprises in northern Shaanxi. Xishan, Fenxi and Huozhou were reorganized into Shanxi Coking Coal Group, while Yangquan, Lu 'an and Jincheng Mining Bureaus also bid farewell to the factory system and reorganized into Yangmei Group, Lu Mei Group and Jinmei Group respectively.
Coal mines are areas where human beings exploit coal resources in rich coal mining areas, which are generally divided into underground coal mines and open-pit coal mines. When the coal seam is far away from the surface, it is generally chosen to dig tunnels underground for coal mining, which is an underground coal mine. When the coal seam is close to the surface, it is generally chosen to directly peel off the topsoil to dig coal. This is an open-pit coal mine. Most coal mines in China belong to underground coal mines. The scope of coal mine includes a large area of ground, underground and related facilities.
