Precautions for chemical peels

Rutin A, a prescription name for vitamin A, is sometimes used before surgery. It can thin the surface of the skin and allow the carbolic acid solution to penetrate deeper and more evenly. If the patient's skin cannot tolerate rutin A preparatory treatment, alpha hydroxy acid ointment can be used as a pretreatment, especially if the skin has spots or pigment problems. Sometimes preoperative preparation lasts for more than 1 month. Within 1-2 days after skin peeling, someone will need help in daily life. Alpha hydroxy acid peel treatment - the doctor applies an alpha hydroxy acid solution to the cleansed skin. This process usually takes about 10 minutes. No "post-peel" ointment is required after application. Depending on the strength of the peel, it may need to be used in stages to achieve satisfactory results. For some patients, using an alpha-hydroxy acid facial cleanser or ointment at home 1-2 times a day is enough to achieve the desired results. The plastic surgeon may add some rutin or bleach as part of the home treatment. After a few weeks of treatment, ask your doctor to check and decide if you need to adjust your treatment plan. Carbolic and trichloroacetic acid peels - The skin is usually first cleansed and then a carbolic acid or trichloroacetic acid solution is carefully applied. You may feel a sting when applying the peel, but it will go away quickly. A full-face trichloroacetic acid peel usually takes less than 15 minutes. To achieve satisfactory results, more than 2 trichloroacetic acid peels may be required, and the peel times may be spread over several months. Low-concentration trichloroacetic acid peels can be performed monthly. When using carbolic acid solution for exfoliation, the treatment area needs to be covered with gasoline glue or waterproof tape. When peeling at a low concentration, no covering is required. A full-face carbolic acid peel usually takes 1-2 hours, while peeling a smaller area (such as the skin above the upper lip) only takes 10-15 minutes, and one treatment is enough. Chemical peels can be used on the entire face, or on a specific area, such as the perioral area, which is often used during face lifts. At the end of using a carbolic acid peel, apply a thick layer of gasoline gel to the treatment area. A protective scab may form on the surface of the new skin, and when removed, the skin underneath will appear bright pink.
