Men have Adam's apple, but women don't?
Many people think that only men have Adam's apple and women don't. A woman's neck is smooth, and there seems to be no bulge. In fact, women have no Adam's apple, but the Adam's apple is not obvious, so we didn't find it. In medical books, the structure of women and men is the same: the throat is supported by nine cartilages, of which thyroid cartilage is the largest.
Thyroid cartilage develops from a small embryo and continues to develop in the following years until puberty. So there is no difference between men and women when they are young, because the size of thyroid cartilage is similar at this time, so we can't judge a person's gender from Adam's apple.
Men's Adam's apple is getting bigger and bigger, which is mainly due to the development of adolescence. During this period, women's breasts will swell and menstruation will begin; The Adam's apple in men will become bigger, and the front end of the thyroid cartilage plate will grow rapidly, so the Adam's apple looks prominent.
As a man's Adam's apple grows, it will also lead to some changes in his voice. The sound came from the throat. When the position becomes wider, the sound will become deeper and even thicker. Therefore, some men who have changed their voices may have a bad voice, which is mainly caused by androgen in the body.
Men have androgens, and women also produce androgens, so why is the Adam's apple of women not so obvious? This is because although women do produce some androgens, the amount is too small to promote the growth of thyroid cartilage, so there is no Adam's apple like men. Of course, there are also some women who secrete more androgens, so they have a long beard and may have a small Adam's apple.
Although all men have Adam's apple, not all men's Adam's apple is obvious. Some men's Adam's apple is relatively small, and it is easy to distinguish between men and women because they wear neutral clothes.
Why are some men's Adam's apple not obvious?
Some people often like to do some strenuous exercise in adolescence, which leads to excessive androgen consumption in the body, thus affecting the development of thyroid cartilage and making its Adam's apple look less obvious.
Always handle your own needs manually. In adolescence, you may be in a period of ignorance and curiosity about everything. Too much hand treatment will lead to too much androgen secretion, resulting in less prominent thyroid cartilage and smaller Adam's apple.
So both men and women have Adam's apple, but the size is different. When men produce more androgens, thyroid cartilage will become larger and more prominent in the throat, so there is Adam's apple. If men consume more androgen in adolescence, it will lead to a smaller Adam's apple; Adam's apple may also occur in women with high androgen levels, but the level is slightly lower.
