Cutting off a part of a 2-year-old branch or a perennial branch is also called pruning (Figure 14). The effect of retraction varies with the position of retraction: one is rejuvenation and the other is inhibition.

Remove excess buds to prevent them from growing into branches. Some of these buds are too dense and some are in the wrong direction (Figure 16).

Hold the new shoot by hand and bend it downward from the base to the top, so that the xylem of the new shoot is injured without breaking. In the early stage of lignification of new shoots, taking strong and long branches can change their growth direction and angle, slow down their growth and promote the formation of flower buds.

12. Pull branches

Pull the branch to a certain angle in a certain direction by manual method. Usually one end of a rope, wire, etc. It is buried underground, and the other end is tied to a branch to open the corner.
