Peripheral facial paralysis is the most common kind of facial paralysis, which is characterized by delayed paralysis of all facial muscles on the same side. The damaged part of facial nerve is at or below the facial nucleus.

1. Etiology treatment If the cause is clear, treat the cause first and treat facial paralysis at the same time.

3. Adjuvant therapy

(1) The commonly used acupuncture points are: Cang Di, Bai Yang, Cheek Car, Xiaguan, Fish Waist, Silk White, Renzhong, Hegu, Fengchi and Xiang Ying. Every day 1 time or every other day 1 time, acupoints can be selected alternately.

(2) Local physiotherapy can use hot compress on the affected side, each time 15min, 4 times a day, or local infrared physiotherapy to promote blood circulation and accelerate inflammation absorption.

4. Surgical treatment, facial nerve anastomosis and nerve transplantation should be carried out as soon as possible for facial nerve amputation caused by trauma. When the medical history is long and all methods are ineffective, facial plastic surgery can be considered to repair the appearance.
