Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (First Clinical Medical College) was founded in 1958. It is a national "2 1 1 Project", "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform" and a "double-class" affiliated hospital of Chinese medicine colleges.

Dongzhimen Hospital is a large comprehensive third-class first-class Chinese medicine hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching and scientific research. It is a national clinical research base of traditional Chinese medicine, a national drug clinical trial institution recognized by the US Food and Drug Administration, a training base for appropriate technology projects of traditional Chinese medicine of the World Health Organization, a national standardized training demonstration base for residents, the first batch of national demonstration hospitals of traditional Chinese medicine and Beijing designated hospitals for medical insurance, a national experimental teaching demonstration center of traditional Chinese medicine, and an off-campus practical education base for college students of the Ministry of Education.

The hospital has two districts, a department and other practice places. Among them, Dongcheng Campus is located at No.5 Maritime Warehouse, Tongzhou Campus is located at Cuiping West Road 1 16, and the international part is located at No.279 Dongsi North Street, Dongcheng District, with 1574 beds and 40 clinical specialties. The annual number of outpatient and emergency services is nearly 3 million.
