Can the breast be reconstructed after tumor resection?
Breast is the pride of women, but it is the prone part of cancer. If the average woman has breast pain, as long as the breast cancer does not recur after resection, it will be satisfied. But some women, especially young women, suddenly lose their breasts, which will bring great difficulties to their lives. For example, they don't want to go to public places such as bathhouses and swimming pools. They are on the bus, afraid that others will touch her chest wall. When choosing clothes or doing other activities, they feel constrained everywhere, wear double bras in hot weather, and even feel out of balance when walking. Over time, they suffered great mental and psychological trauma. This kind of scar is hard for gay men to understand. Therefore, most husbands oppose the reconstruction of their wives' breasts. There is a saying: "only people with scars on their faces know what scars taste like", which can explain this problem very well. Chongqing plastic surgery breast can be reconstructed after cancer or inflammation resection. For nearly a century, doctors have been working hard for this goal intermittently. The earliest attempt was in 1893, when a German surgeon named Zerni removed a benign breast tumor from an opera actress. The actress had to continue her artistic career. The deformity of the chest wall is bad for her, and she wants to rebuild it. It happened that the actress had a lipoma on her right thigh, so Dr. Zeni removed it and transplanted it to the affected part of her chest wall. Although the transplanted lipoma has shrunk in size, it has survived in general. Chongqing Plastic Surgery 1896, Italian surgeon Tonsini transferred latissimus dorsi flap to the wound after mastectomy. His main purpose is to close the wound after mastectomy, but it is obviously the embryonic form of original breast reconstruction. Since this century, people have used adipose tissue, dermis, muscle and other free transplantation methods to reconstruct breasts, and also used various skin tubes to reconstruct breasts, and the results are not satisfactory. In 1950s, someone used the method of dividing healthy breasts into two parts to reconstruct sick breasts, which was just a flash in the pan and was soon abandoned. After 1960s, the appearance of silicone breast prosthesis made breast reconstruction simple. The number of women asking for breast reconstruction has also increased rapidly. Breast reconstruction is very popular in the western world at present. There are about 90 thousand breast cancer patients in the United States every year, and 20% of them require reconstruction after breast cancer resection. The cost of re-engineering is also paid by the insurance company. About 30% of patients have metastasized when they are found to have breast cancer, so some women with a family history of pain simply demand that the glands under the breast be removed and reconstructed at the same time to prevent it. At present, the popular methods of breast reconstruction are: (1) implant prosthesis. Where the night cover tissue of the chest wall is perfect, if the eradication is improved, the silicone rubber capsule prosthesis can be directly implanted into the chest wall of the resected breast. If the chest wall lacks covering tissue, the latissimus dorsi flap or epigastric flap should be transferred to strengthen the wound surface of the anterior chest wall, and then silicone rubber sac should be placed under it. (2) Reconstruction of nipple and areola The purpose of breast reconstruction is to enable you to wear a bra and maintain a normal breast appearance. Nipples and areola are generally not reconstructed. However, for patients in need, the nipple and areola can be reconstructed by using the methods of cartilage behind the ear, inner thigh skin, labia minora mucosa skin or healthy nipple and areola. (3) If the contralateral breast is too large, reduction and plastic surgery should be done at the same time to achieve symmetry. Chongqing Plastic Surgery Hospital has different opinions on the time of reconstruction. Some people think that reconstruction can be done immediately after mastectomy, while others think that reconstruction is more appropriate after a period of time. No one can convince anyone who has his own opinion. As for whether breast reconstruction will cause cancer recurrence, the current consensus is that breast reconstruction can neither prevent cancer recurrence nor promote cancer recurrence. At present, breast reconstruction is being carried out in Beijing and Shanghai. In China, because the breasts are not big, some people can achieve the goal of breast reconstruction simply by transferring latissimus dorsi flap. It can also be reconstructed by abdominal flap transfer or other free flap transplantation and vascular anastomosis. With the development of society, there will undoubtedly be more and more people demanding breast reconstruction in the future. When the surgeon removes the patient's breast, it is best to "be merciful under the knife", try to preserve the tissue and reduce local scars so as to reconstruct the breast in the future.
