New breakthroughs have been made in lithium battery materials
Charging speed is expected to accelerate.
Recently, the team of Academician Yu Shuhong of China University of Science and Technology cooperated with the teams of Professor Yao Hongbin and Professor Ni Yong to solve the contradiction between high energy density and fast charging performance of lithium-ion batteries, and proposed and prepared a new double gradient graphite anode material, which can charge lithium-ion batteries by 60% within 6 minutes. The related results were recently published in Science Progress.
At present, electric vehicles driven by lithium-ion batteries are favored by people because of their energy saving and environmental protection. But the charging time of electric vehicles is much longer than that of traditional fuel vehicles, which greatly reduces the experience. The main reason is that the negative rate performance of graphite anode of lithium-ion battery is poor, which limits the fast charging ability of electric vehicle.
In order to improve the rate performance of graphite anode, the traditional strategy is to make graphite electrode porous or thin. However, these methods often sacrifice the energy density of the prepared battery. Yu Shuhong's team started with the electrode structure design to improve the fast charging performance of lithium-ion batteries while ensuring the energy density.
The research team developed a self-assembly technology of slurry with low viscosity and no polymer binder. Copper-plated graphite negative particles and copper nanowires were mixed in ethanol solution to make slurry. Based on the difference of settling velocity of graphite particles with different sizes in slurry, a double gradient structure optimized by simulation calculation was successfully constructed, and an electrode was obtained.
The researchers found that the lithium-ion battery based on this new double gradient graphite anode material can be charged from zero to 60% and 80% in 5.6 minutes and 1 1.4 minutes respectively, while maintaining high energy density.
Explosive growth of negative electrode materials in China
The supply and demand of graphitization are tight
Since the fourth quarter of 2020, the anode material market has experienced explosive growth. According to the White Paper on the Development of Negative Electrode Materials Industry in China (2022) jointly issued by research institute EVTank and Ivey Economic Research Institute, in 20021year, the shipment of negative electrode materials in China reached 779,000 tons, up 86.4% year-on-year. The global share will increase from 77.7% in 2020 to 86. 1% in 202 1 year.
According to Dongguan Securities Research Report, China is the world's leading producer of anode materials, and its shipments have increased to about 70% in recent two years. It is estimated that the shipment of anode materials in China will increase from 365,000 tons in 2020 to 1.48 million tons in 2025, with a compound annual growth rate of 32%.
Under the influence of the dual control of national energy consumption, the graphitization processing capacity with high energy consumption is limited, the demand for downstream new energy vehicles is growing rapidly, and the supply and demand of graphitization are tight. In recent years, domestic lithium battery cathode material head enterprises have gradually graphitized upstream. Enterprises with high graphitization self-sufficiency rate and gradually improved integrated industrial layout have strong cost advantages and are expected to achieve synchronous growth in quantity and profit.
Graphite anode concept stocks rebounded sharply.

According to the statistics of Securities Times and Datanewspaper, there are less than 15 companies in the A-share market with the relevant production capacity and technology of graphite anode materials. Since May, these concept stocks have continued to rebound. By the close of May 23rd, the average increase was 12.88%, far exceeding the Shanghai Composite Index in the same period.
From the perspective of institutional attention, Putelai (133.30- 1.99%) is currently the most favored by institutions, with 29 research reports giving it a positive rating. Followed by Jerry shares (35./kloc-0+4.43%, diagnosis shares), longbai group (19.08-0.37%, diagnosis shares), zhongke electric (26.92-6.59%, diagnosis shares) and Shanshan shares (23.60+) According to the unanimous forecast of more than five institutions, Keda Manufacturing (16.64-0. 12%, consulting unit) and Zhongke Electric both obtained the forecast of doubling the growth rate of their net profit in 2022. Compared with the consensus forecast target price, the latest closing prices of Fangda Carbon (7. 17-2. 18%), Shanshan, Longbai Group and Betray (835 185) all have more than 50% room for growth.
Putelai's annual report shows that by the end of 20021,the company has formed an effective capacity of 6.5438+0.5 million tons of anode materials per year, including 6.5438+0.110,000 tons of graphitization and 6.5438+0.0 million tons of carbonization. In 2023, the company will increase the comprehensive anode production capacity by at least 654.38 million tons.
Shanshan Co., Ltd. is the first enterprise engaged in the research and development and production of artificial graphite anode materials for lithium-ion batteries in China. By the end of 20021,the company's finished anode material production capacity was1.2000 tons, and the graphitization production capacity was 42000 tons.
Dow Technology (2 1. 17+0.00%, diagnostic unit) said on the interactive platform on May 17 that the Lanzhou base of the company plans to build a production project with an annual output of 5,000 tons of carbon nanotube powder, 30,000 tons of carbon nanotube slurry and/kloc-0.50 million tons of silicon carbon and graphite anode materials and graphitization. The first phase of the project plans to build 70,000 tons of graphite anode materials (including 6,543,800 tons of graphitization), and it is expected to start at the end of May 2022.
On May 7th, Zhongke Electric mentioned on the interactive platform that the 50,000-ton lithium battery cathode material production base project of Hunan Zhongke Xingcheng Graphite Co., Ltd. has completed the plant construction and is now in the stage of equipment installation and debugging.
Xiang Fenghua (44.90+0. 1 1%, diagnostic unit) is mainly graphite anode material. By the end of 20021,the company had produced 30,000 tons of anode materials, 30,000 tons of investment projects under construction and 60,000 tons of integrated production base of high-end artificial graphite anode materials under construction, totaling 6,543,800 tons. The company's annual graphitization production capacity is 6.5438+0.5 million tons, of which 3,000 tons have been fully produced, and 6.5438+0.2 million tons of graphitization are under construction and some of them are put into use. It is expected to be put into production this year.
The 20021annual report of Jerry Co., Ltd. shows that the company implemented a 65438+ 10,000-ton lithium ion battery graphite anode material integration project in Tianshui, Gansu Province, and cooperated with Zhao Jinbao of Jiageng Innovation Laboratory to implement a180,000-ton lithium ion battery silicon-based composite anode material project in Xiamen, Fujian and other places.
