Common classifications of LEDs and LED packaging forms in several cutting-edge fields

LED lamp beads are usually classified by packaging form. Generally it can be divided into: direct plug-in type, SMD chip type, high-power LED (their power and current usage are different, and the photoelectric parameters are very different, and the specifications are diverse).

1. Direct-plug low-power specifications include: straw hat/steel helmet, round head, concave, oval, square (2*3*4) bullet head, flat head, (3/5/flat head/ Bread type) Piranha, etc.

2. SMD patches are generally divided into (3020/3528/5050, these are front-emitting)/1016/1024, etc. These are side-emitting light sources.

3. High-power LED. If a single high-power LED light source does not add a heat dissipation base (usually a hexagonal aluminum base), its appearance is not much different from that of ordinary SMDs. High-power LED light sources It is round in shape, and the packaging method is basically the same as that of SMD patches, but it is essentially different from SMD patches in terms of usage conditions/environment/effects.

Integrated LED light sources are now available on the market, which are commonly referred to as COB light sources. COB light source is a high-efficiency integrated surface light source technology that directly attaches LED chips to a highly reflective mirror metal substrate. This technology eliminates the concept of brackets and requires no electroplating, reflow soldering, or patching processes, so the process is reduced by nearly three thirds. One, the cost is also saved by one-third. COB light source can be simply understood as a high-power integrated surface light source. The light output area and overall size of the light source can be designed according to the product appearance structure.
