① Periodontitis patients with superficial supraosseous pocket and kneeling stones should be treated with subgingival curettage to remove the stimulating factors in periodontal pocket.

② As preoperative preparation, eliminate deep periodontal pocket and periodontal disease.

Indications of gingivectomy

1. Gingival hypertrophy and hyperplasia, short crown, false periodontal pocket, or irregular gingival margin, which failed to return to normal shape after basic treatment.

2. Shallow palatal and moderate periodontal pocket (supraosseous pocket).

3. The periodontal pocket involved in root bifurcation has sufficient adhesion to gingiva.

4. Chronic periodontal abscess near the crown.

5. The third molar is covered with he-surface gingival flap, which is related to he eruption. Excessive coverage of gingival tissue during cavity preparation or crown and bridge restoration affects filling or restoration.
