Is the yield of yacon fruit high?
The yield of yacon fruit is very high. The actual yield per mu can reach more than 8,000 kilograms, and up to 10,000 kilograms, but the specific yield is still related to the planting time of the plants and the climate of the planting area.
How to grow yacon with high yield
1. Site selection and preparation
Yacon should be planted in sandy soil with easy drainage and irrigation. Before planting, about 4,000-6,000 pounds of farmyard manure should be applied to each acre of land, and an appropriate amount of quicklime can also be added to prevent underground pests.
2. Planting
1,100 yacon trees can be planted per acre of land. When the seedlings grow to 20 cm tall, water and weed. When the weather is dry, increase the amount of watering appropriately. Pay attention to drainage during rainy season.
3. Plastic pruning
When the yacon tree survives, it can be pruned, and all overshoots and branches will be cut off. No chemical fertilizers or pesticides are needed in the later stage, but plants that are too weak should be poured with some manure.
4. Excavation
It can be dug around October. After the flowers wither, put the yacon into the cellar for storage. The stems and leaves of the plant can also be used as feed.
