Operation and nursing care of infants with short lingual frenulum.
Some babies will return to normal in their later growth and development, or go for surgery to correct them. However, surgical correction still needs to go to the hospital for examination first, and don't blindly operate. However, many parents are worried that the baby's tongue strap is short, because the short tongue strap will affect the future pronunciation and speech, which will seriously affect the baby's breastfeeding, that is, the baby will leak milk when breastfeeding.

Mode of operation

There are three kinds of operation methods for babies with short lingual frenulum: simple local anesthesia, complex local anesthesia and general anesthesia.

postoperative care

Babies need to pay attention to observation, diet, gargle, pronunciation training, oral cleaning and surgical oral care after tongue lacing operation.

Operation mode 1: simple local anesthesia

Scissors, electrotome or laser cut the abnormal lingual frenulum, which is generally not sutured. This method is suitable for children with thin tongue strap, less incision bleeding and less wound adhesion. Advantages: simple. Disadvantages: The surgical effect of some children may be slightly poor, and they may not reach the normal level completely, and may need a second operation.

Operation mode 2: compound local anesthesia.

Generally, children over the age of 6 can cooperate. After cutting the lingual frenulum, suture is needed to reduce the chance of wound adhesion. Advantages: local anesthesia, good surgical effect. Disadvantages: Need children to cooperate.

Operation mode 3: general anesthesia operation.

Most of them are children who can't cooperate with the operation and need to suture the wound. Advantages: One operation can basically achieve satisfactory results. Disadvantages: hospitalization is required, and the operation cost is relatively high.

Observe for half an hour

Children should stay in the clinic for half an hour after lingual frenulum surgery to observe whether there is bleeding, so as to prevent the occurrence of mild bleeding and deal with it in time if necessary.

Postoperative diet

Because the wound has not completely healed after operation, if eating good food will affect the wound healing, the mother can supplement the nutritional soup to the child, mainly with liquid food to maintain a balanced nutrition.

Oral cleaning

If the surgical mouth is infected, the scar shrinks obviously, and it is easy to pull the tongue to retract the tip of the tongue.

Pronunciation training

After the operation, the child's pronunciation is abnormal immediately, and it is necessary to correct bad pronunciation habits through training.
