The First People's Hospital of Urumqi (Children's Hospital) is divided into two parts: the south and the north. Founded in 1934, South Hospital is the first western medicine hospital in Xinjiang, called Beimen Hospital. Northern Hospital (formerly urumqi county People's Hospital) was transferred to Urumqi First People's Hospital in June, 2002, and it was called Urumqi First People's Hospital Branch.
