In previous videos, I often mentioned that bougainvillea in summer should not control water to promote flowers, but mainly focus on seedling raising and plant shape shaping. If you want to raise the seedlings well, you need to water and fertilize them frequently. Fertilizers are mainly compound fertilizers and chemical fertilizers. If you want a good plant shape and many branches, you need to prune it regularly. Today's main topic is how long it takes to prune bougainvillea in summer, and then I want to talk about the specific pruning methods. If your interval is short, these new branches are not lignified yet. At this time, if you cut them off, you will only have a branch, or you will become blind. If you cut it too late, it is a waste of time. For example, I cut the pot we see now in early June. Up to now, a whole month has passed. Today, I plan to use this basin to demonstrate to flower lovers. Friends who often watch my videos know that my bougainvillea is particularly compact when it blooms. Generally, unlike this one, its branches are scattered. Mainly because the pruned bougainvillea cannot be pruned again in a short time. I usually trim it once a month in summer. Please follow my shot and see how to trim it. Like these gyroscopes, they break with a little pinch, which is very tender. This is a branch without lignification. This position can't be trimmed, and it takes a long time to grow branches. And the number of branches is very small, and if you are unlucky, you will become blind. Therefore, the pruning position should be further down, counting from the bottom to the top of this new branch, leaving two or three leaves before pruning. This position has a high degree of lignification and short leaf spacing. Let's look at the branches next to us and count them from the branches. This is the first leaf, the second leaf and the third leaf. Besides counting leaves, we should also look at the number and length of branches around. Because the shape of this tree is biased, there are fewer branches in this direction. Therefore, for the future plant shape, this branch can be left longer, while the other branch will grow more densely. Therefore, we can keep it short. Similarly, we can keep two or three leaves. The branches next to it should be the same length. Besides observing the length of branches, we also need to observe the direction of reserved buds. We can go and have a look. After pruning here, the buds on this leaf will be cut off and the buds at the bottom will face left. So pruning here is the most suitable. Look at another branch next to it, so that the whole bead can be as round as possible, so I choose to trim it here. Let's look at another branch next to it, because its growth direction is not outward, but a cross branch. So, if you leave it shorter, fill the gap here and keep an arc with the flowerpot. Too long branches can be cut short, and too short branches can be left long, so that the whole plant shape of the flowerpot looks more round, and its plant shape itself is a small crown, and there are fewer branches here. Therefore, when this branch is pruned, it will be corrected bit by bit after several pruning, and the branches next to it also have this problem. When we trim, we must consider all the factors. After pruning, the remaining buds need plenty of light. If you find that it is covered with big leaves, you must remove it. After removing those buds, only under sufficient light can more branches grow and become stronger. We will finish pruning the tree. Let's have a look. Some flower lovers may be reluctant to prune. Without pruning, the branches will be too long and there won't be too many flowers. That is, fertilizer should be applied after each pruning. Compound fertilizer and microbial inoculum can be used for the first time, and nitrogen fertilizer can also be used once every half month.
If you are fertilized, you can use granules directly. The mouth diameter of this flowerpot is 2 1 cm. Put 2g microbial inoculum and 2g compound fertilizer into it, and then spread it evenly along the edge of the flowerpot. Finally, bury it shallowly and pour water through it. It can be dissolved in one thousandth of water and then smeared with water. Summer bougainvillea grows very fast, which is the best season for pruning and shaping. Our bougainvillea must seize this favorable season for pruning. I just trimmed it some time ago and used it for more than ten days. Many branches have grown out now. As long as you trim it like this, the more you trim it, the more branches it will have. Only in autumn will more flowers bloom.
