Small schnauzer: 30 ~ 35cm in height and 6 ~ 8kg in weight.
Puppies should be more than two months old and have a lively personality.
Buy a puppy with round and thick bones. Long neck, short back, high tail and good hindquarters.
Good appetite and strong activity.
Eyes bright and clear, nose should be moderately moist. Except sleeping and waking up.
Teeth are scissors bite, gums and tongue should be healthy pink. The anus should be kept clean. Ears should be clean pink.
The head is flat and parallel to the muzzle. Coarse, hairy and shiny.
Usually, the puppies of mini schnauzer have deep fur, and the color will become lighter when they become dogs. Pepper color system is a unique feature of mini-schnauzer, which is generally deep pepper color and light pepper color. At present, deep pepper color accounts for the majority.
Overall shape
Miniature schnauzer is a strong and lively terrier, which is similar to its close relative standard schnauzer in general shape and also has an agile and active character.
The types of defects include: too toy, inattention, timidity, rudeness and lack of intelligence.
Size and proportion
The size is 12 to 14 inch. Strong, almost square, about the same height and length, with sufficient bone mass, there should be no tendency to be a toy dog. Anything higher than 14 inch or lower than 12 inch is not acceptable.
head
The head is solid and rectangular, and the width gradually decreases from ear to eye, and further decreases to the tip of nose. The forehead is flat. The skull is flat and the long front is as long as the skull. Strong muzzle, commensurate with the skull, slightly pure end and rich beard will enhance the rectangular effect of the head.
Head defect
The head is rough and the cheeks are round and thick. Tooth scissors bite. Scissor bite index: when the mouth is closed, the upper front teeth overlap with the lower front teeth, and the inner surface of the upper front teeth just touches the outer surface of the lower front teeth. If the mandible protrudes, the lower package tooth or the upper jaw protrudes; Horizontal bite.
eye
Dark brown, deep concave, oval, rich in expression.
Eye defect
Eyes are too big or too round. Eyes are too thin and narrow.
ear
Both ears are the same shape and length, with sharp corners. Keep balance with the head, and the length should not be too long. Located at the top of the skull, it stands upright at the inner edge and forms a bell shape as small as possible along the outer edge. If it is a dog with clipped ears, the two ears should match. The same size and ear shape should also have the tip of the ear, proportional to the head, and the root of the ear should be above the skull.
When the ear is not cut, it is small, V-shaped and folded forward to the skull.
Ear defect
The ratio of ears to head is too long.
Neck, topline, trunk
The neck is strong and arched, mixed with the shoulders, and the throat skin is tight. The trunk is short and deep, and the chest extends at least to the elbow. The ribs are well bent, and the body and back stretch well only at the short waist. The lower torso is not folded at the lumbar fossa. The topline is straight and slightly inclined from shoulder to heel. The shoulder is the highest point of the body. The total length from chest to hip is the same as shoulder height.
Neck, Dorsal Line and Trunk Defects
The chest is too high or too narrow, and the back is sunken or arched.
The tail root is tall and upright. When the dog's coat length is reasonable, the tail length can be distinguished as long as it is above the topline. The tail root is too low.
predecessor
From all angles, the front legs are straight and parallel. The metacarpal bone is very strong and has a good bone mass. The chest is deep and the front legs are separated to avoid folding. The elbows are close together, and the ribs gradually extend from the first rib, so that the elbows can move close to the body.
The shoulders are sloping and muscular, but they are still flat and even. The position of the shoulder is completely backward, and the top of the scapula is perpendicular to the elbow when viewed from the side. The tips of the shoulder blades are close together. The scapula is inclined forward and downward at an angle, so that the forelimbs can be fully extended forward without getting stuck. Shoulder blades and upper arms are long, so that the chest has enough depth. The feet are short and round, similar to those of a cat, and the pads are black and thick. Arch, compact.
Precursor defect
Loose elbows.
Man's back
The muscles in the second half are strong and the thighs are inclined. The knee joint is completely bent. There is enough angle, and the tarsal part extends beyond the tail. The back half should not be too high or higher than the shoulders.
Rear body defect
The coat is too soft, too smooth and too silky.
colour
The recognized colors are salt and pepper, black silver and pure black. There is no such thing as silver. Three colors have the same skin pigment, for example, there should be no white or pink skin spots anywhere on the dog.
Salt and pepper color
The typical salt and pepper coat color is a combination of black and white striped hair (referring to the color change from deep to shallow and then to deep from hair root to hair tip) and black and white non-striped hair, and striped hair is dominant. All colors of salt and pepper are acceptable. At the top layer of hair, textured hair and non-textured hair can be a mixture of colors from light to dark (brown shading is also acceptable). In salt-and-pepper dogs, the salt-and-pepper texture fades to light gray or silvery white in eyebrows, beards, cheeks, under the throat, ears, chest hair, under the tail root, leg grooming hair and retreat. Hair under the body may fade, but if it does, the faded hair cannot extend above the elbow on the side.
Black and silver
Black and silver have the same color change as salt and pepper. The whole salt and pepper color must be black. The black coat of the black silver dog is thick black, and the inner coat is black. The plucked part will not fade, and there will be no earthy tones, and the hair under the body will be darker.
black
Black is the only recognized solid color schnauzer. The ideal black color should be: the outer hair is thick and shiny, and the bottom hair can be slightly sparse and dull, which is natural and should not be deducted. The dialed part will not fade, and there will be no brown tone. The shearing and plucking areas will appear light black. It is acceptable to have white spots on the chest and a single white hair on other parts of the body.
Unqualified defect
Pure white or white stripes, mottles or white spots appear in the colored parts of the dog's body, and black schnauzer may have small white spots on his chest. In salt and pepper, black silver and pure black dogs, the throat and chest can fade to gray or silver white, and there should be a natural coat color between these faded areas. Any uneven, connected white lines and white spots in these parts are regarded as white spots and disqualified. Those who are older than their peers when they grow up are also called disqualifications.
footwork
The gait at a trot is used to evaluate the posture of a dog. From the front, the elbows of the front legs are close to the body, straight forward, and the legs are neither too close nor too apart. Seen from the back, the hind legs are straight and move in the same plane as the front legs.
Please note: although it is generally believed that the hind legs and front legs move in the same plane during trot, they are rarely introverted in fact. The first half of introversion starts from the shoulder and the second half from the hip joint. No matter from the front or the back, the legs are straight from these points to the mat. Mini schnauzer with correct gait is almost imperceptible. However, the inward inclination of the footsteps does not mean that the tarsal rotation, toe too close, stride, elbow valgus and other postures are correct.
Viewed from the side, the front legs are fully extended, the rear legs are strongly driven, and the tarsal joints are completely raised. Feet are neither varus nor valgus.
Gait defect
Forward step, oblique step, paddle gait of forelimbs (elbows and shoulders are retracted, so that forelimbs swing forward in a blunt arc), riding gait (like a horse, forelimbs are raised high and wrists are bent), and the rear driving force is insufficient.
Second, buy a racial schnauzer.
Of course, the competition-level Schnauzer does not lose its pet qualities, but today I want to explain it on the basis of participating in the competition.
Buying a racing schnauzer is even more obvious. Usually, the price is directly proportional to the description in the approximation standard book. People usually say,' A good dog will get a good price', so I suggest that you must have a budget in mind before choosing the dog you want.
If you don't know the standard book here, beginners will usually be confused by the dog's reward calendar, and even the store will directly promote his entry results. However, if you first understand that the competition system in different places is different, the number of dogs he hits will be reviewed. For example, there are only three first-class dogs in this group, or a single group with 12 third-class dogs, which is better? I'm afraid it's hard to judge!
So I suggest the following observations:
A, know the standard book as much as possible, because it helps your eyes and gives you a basis for discussion with the seller. Many places in Xiao Xie will emphasize the importance of standard books. In addition, please feel his body structure through your hands. Don't forget that he is hairy. Don't touch him yourself, observe his steps and other factors.
Therefore, several points that must be observed are: whether the figure is square, whether the personality is steady, whether the tail heel is high, whether the back line is flat, whether the head proportion is correct, whether the hair is sufficient, whether the neck thickness is in harmony with the neck arch, whether the chest depth is balanced, whether the driving angle and stride size before and after are correct, and whether the hair quality and level are correct.
B, train yourself to see dogs from DV or photos. This is the ability of the advanced class, because the target of buying dogs is not limited to China, and you may need to bring in foreign dogs to join your lineup. This ability is indispensable, especially for buying puppies. You can definitely see his future. Of course, it is best to read it in person, but due to the differences in geography and language, there is usually little opportunity to review it in person. Therefore, it is suggested that you first understand several key points, such as the consistent use of kennel type and pedigree, the overall performance of kennels in this country, and the personal characteristics of kennel owners, so that you can reduce the risk of buying the wrong dog.
C. observe the genealogy. If you are a breeder, the importance of pedigree will increase. Xiao Xie believes that you must first know that his characteristics are necessary for your kennel and want to improve it. Not only must we make sure that the dog has its characteristics, but you should also observe that it has its characteristics for more than three generations, so that the inheritance of this point is stable and it is worth introducing and breeding.
Haha, Lin Lin always said that this view, in addition to his own experience, there are many teaching achievements of his predecessors. At the time of writing this article, we must also pay the highest tribute to some predecessors who have guided Xiao Xie. After all, they will selflessly provide their experience.
I hope these views are just the necessary beginning. Don't forget that he will be your best friend, whether he is a pet dog or a racing dog. Please be careful before letting him into your family. It will be a happy thing for him and you in the future. I hope everyone has a happy dog.
My home is also a light snow. I sent you some messages. I hope this is what you want. I wish you find your little snow baby soon ~ ~
