Cultivation techniques of Phyllostachys pubescens
(1) Growing environment: For the newly planted bamboo bonsai, it should be watered and maintained in the shade for about 10 days, then maintained in the semi-shade and semi-sunshine for 5 days, and then carefully maintained and managed in a sunny, ventilated, warm and humid environment. In summer, we should avoid exposure to the hot sun, otherwise it will damage the root system of Phyllostachys pubescens, and growers should shade in the market.
(2) Temperature: Phyllostachys pubescens likes humid and warm climate, with low cold resistance, mild frost resistance and extremely low temperature around 0℃. If the long-term temperature is lower than 4-6℃, Phyllostachys pubescens plants will suffer from freezing injury. Phyllostachys pubescens can safely overwinter in the open field, and can be cultivated in leeward and sunny places. In late autumn and early winter, when the minimum temperature drops to about 5℃ at night, it should be moved indoors and the room temperature should be kept at about 8℃. If the room temperature is too high, it will be bad for the growth in the coming year.
(3) Watering: Phyllostachys pubescens is a water-resistant and wet plant, so it should be watered frequently to keep the soil moist, but there should be no water in the basin. Summer is the vigorous growth period of Phyllostachys pubescens, and the temperature is high, so water it once in the morning and evening. We should move indoors in winter, and the leaves are dusty. We should spray water properly to make the leaves look greener and more beautiful.
(4) Fertilization: It is not advisable to apply too much fertilizer to Phyllostachys pubescens. Too much fertilizer and water will lead to steep and long branches and leaves of plants, which will affect the appearance. From March to September, it is enough to apply decomposed dilute liquid fertilizer once a month, and Bika water-soluble fertilizer can be used. Calcium, magnesium and phosphorus should be applied to Phyllostachys pubescens as base fertilizer, and hydrogen, fertilizer and water should be applied once a month or every other month during the peak growth period to keep the stems Huang Liang and leaves green. However, nitrogen fertilizer should not be used too much, so as to avoid each node growing too long, forming a Buddha's belly shape and reducing the ornamental value.
(5) Pruning: Phyllostachys pubescens plants grow faster, so the branches that don't need modeling should be cut off in time to avoid consuming their nutrition. Hsinchu is thin and long, which affects the shape and should be cut off in time.
