There are four characters "Guangxu Yuanbao" on the front, "Baling" on the bottom, "September" and "Zhong" on the left and right, indicating that it was cast in the middle of September in the third year of Guangxu (1877). On the back, there are six words "Bitterness is equal to seven dollars and two cents", indicating that this is a silver coin weighing 7.22 ounces.
The casting of this kind of silver coin was presided over by Zhang Zhidong, governor of Hunan Province, with the purpose of reforming Hunan's monetary system and promoting Hunan's economic development. This kind of silver coin has excellent casting technology, clear pattern and little survival. It is a treasure in the silver coins of the Qing Dynasty.
