"Hair transplant in the morning, go to work in the afternoon", "scientific hair growth, start immediately", "close call, grow wonderful" ... all kinds of attractive hair transplant advertisements can be seen everywhere.
Many patients even expressed their opinions and posted their comparisons before and after hair transplantation on the Internet. At first glance, Yan value really soared! No wonder so many people are excited.
But if you really want to do it, many people are worried: how is the hair transplant surgery done? Does it hurt? What is the success rate? How long can it last? Is it expensive? ……
Hair transplant is like planting trees.
Dr Miao Yong, a plastic surgeon at Southern Hospital of Southern Medical University, said that the process of hair transplantation is a bit like planting trees. Simply put, it is to take out the hair follicles in the non-hair loss area and transplant them to the hair loss area.
Hair loss area generally refers to the top of the head and forehead, and non-hair loss area mainly refers to the occipital part (back of the head). The hair in this area is almost unaffected by androgen and will not fall off, so it is also called "dominant donor area".
However, hair transplantation seems simple, but in fact it is a delicate work. How to take hair follicles and how to plant them are very particular.
★ The first step is to take hair follicles.
At present, there are two main ways to extract hair follicles, namely FUT (scalp strip cutting transplantation) and FUE (hair follicle unit drilling transplantation).
The traditional FUT is to cut a piece of skin with hair follicles on the occipital part, and separate the hair follicles one by one with a blade before implantation. The advantage is that surgeons are more relaxed; But the disadvantages are also obvious. The wound needs to be stitched, which will lead to slow recovery and leave scars.
FUE, the so-called seamless hair transplant, is to extract hair follicles one by one with a hair follicle extraction needle. Advantages are less trauma, quick recovery (2-4 days), and almost no impact on life. "The disadvantage may be shaving your head according to the situation," Miao Yong said.
★ Step 2: Plant hair follicles.
Miao Yong introduced that the current methods of planting hair follicles are mainly divided into three types according to the planting process, including: planting after punching, planting while punching, and planting while punching.
The method of planting while punching holes, the so-called micro-needle planting, is a "frequent visitor" in advertisements. The surgeon inserts the needle into the scalp with one hand and plants hair follicles along the hole with the other hand. Repeat like this.
The synchronous method of punching and planting, that is, the planting pen planting method, is to put hair follicles into the planting pen, punch holes in the scalp, and leave hair follicles in the scalp at the same time. Therefore, drilling and planting are completed in one step.
Punching holes before planting, that is, traditional reaming planting. Generally, holes are punched in batches, and then hair follicles are planted one by one.
Which of the three ways is better and which is worse? Miao Yong said that although microneedle planting is more widely known, in terms of effect, reaming planting is actually better.
"Micro-needle planting and planting pen planting are all about planting a hair follicle in a hole, which can't guarantee the consistent spacing of each hole, which may affect the appearance and survival rate.
"Reaming planting is to drill hair follicle holes in advance. Doctors can adjust the direction, angle, spacing and density of holes according to the growth direction of hair. Under the reasonable planning of the whole process, the hair planted will naturally be more uniform and beautiful. " Miao Yong explained.
The survival rate of hair transplantation can reach more than 95%
Miao Yong said that as far as the current technology is concerned, as long as you go to a regular institution to find an experienced doctor to transplant hair, the survival rate of hair can basically reach over 95%.
Generally speaking, after hair transplantation, new hair can grow out as early as 4 months, at the latest 8 months, and most of them take about 6 months.
But the high survival rate does not mean that the operation is successful. Defining the success of hair transplantation depends on aesthetics, that is, whether it looks good or not.
"After the completion, everyone agreed that it felt natural. You can't see that it has been planted, and that is a success. " If the hairline is fake and looks unnatural, the effect of hair transplantation will naturally be greatly reduced.
Androgenic alopecia still needs medical treatment after hair transplantation.
Many people want to get rid of hair transplant once and for all, but they may not be able to do it.
For androgenetic alopecia, although the transplanted hair will not fall off and the old hair loss problem has been solved, the hair loss will continue to deteriorate because the root cause of hair loss has not been solved and the pathogenic factors persist.
Therefore, even after hair transplantation, patients still need to continue to cooperate with drug therapy to prevent the emergence and progress of new hair loss.
