1, sprout pruning
How to prune azaleas?
Pruning azaleas can make them grow more luxuriantly and have higher ornamental value. Generally, the pruning of rhododendrons is mainly divided into three stages. The first pruning is to cut off the branches outside the crown width in the budding stage of rhododendron, so that some branches will not grow vigorously and some branches will not grow well.
Step 2 grow and prune
Rhododendrons will grow quickly in the growing season. At this time, the branches that grow too densely should be cut off in time, which will help to increase the light transmittance of the plant. Some stunted or withered branches and leaves should also be trimmed in time to avoid wasting excess nutrients. Picking in the growing season can also promote the flowering of plants.
3. Prune after flowering
After the azaleas are in bloom, it is necessary to prune the remaining flowers that have not withered. If these flowers are not pruned in time, they will slowly rot in the branches, causing diseases and insect pests, leading to plant withering. Moreover, these residual flowers will consume plant nutrients, which is not conducive to plant recovery.
4. Preventive measures
Rhododendrons should not be excessively pruned. Every pruning is harmful to the cuckoo. If it is too frequent, it will make it difficult for plants to grow healthily. Use sharp instruments when pruning, and use them after disinfection. Strengthen maintenance after pruning, and control the temperature, humidity and light in the environment.
