The film begins with a dead branch in the cold wind. Shakespeare's sentence and a sentence about psychoanalysis seem to indicate that this will be a dramatic story to implement Freud's theory.
One of the most common Freudian cases leads to the conclusion that the heroine of the film, Peterson, a psychologist in a mental hospital, is a beautiful woman who concentrates on academics. This hospital was originally run by Dr. Mochison, and will be taken over by Dr. Edward, a famous doctor of medicine. Peterson is one of Edward's admirers.
Although the new doctor Edward is handsome, he seems a little too young. He and Peterson soon fell in love with each other. But Peterson soon discovered that he was not actually Dr. Edward, but J.B., an amnesiac who was troubled by some terrible things. Edward's secretary arrived the next day and accused him of murdering Edward.
Peterson found the escaped JB and tried to help him remember the truth hidden in his memory with psychoanalysis. The police pursued them and brought them to the home of Peterson's teacher, Alekson. The kind old man took them in and helped Peterson treat JB together.
After being induced, JB told his dream, and the master and apprentice analyzed that the murder happened when Edward was skiing with him. In order to get JB out of the nightmare completely, Peterson and he came to the ski resort. At the critical moment, JB finally remembered the hour, got rid of the crime complex and remembered Edward's accident.
The police found Dr. Edward's body according to the clue provided by JB, but they found bullets from the body. JB still can't get rid of the murder charge. Peterson ran around for JB in vain and had to go back to the hospital. Dr. Mochison's slip of the tongue made Peterson wake up from a dream and connected with JB's dream. The whole story finally came to a conclusion. Faced with the revelation of the plot, Dr. Mochison was unable to shoot Peterson and shot himself in despair.
