The pruning method of Yushu shows that an excellent bonsai needs long-term pruning and shaping. Some gardeners spend 7-8 years just to make it look more like their own, but that's enough!
Just like the following works, let us see the change of an annual ring and the growth of life!

Pruning plants should be combined with the morphological characteristics of plant growth in order to better express the characteristics of plants. Can Yushu be pruned? The answer is yes! Yushu shoots quickly after pruning, so it should be pruned reasonably.
After cutting for two months, the experienced bonsai players will put copper wire and aluminum wire on the branches of Yushu.
But many basin friends are unwilling to do so, thinking it is too bad for Yushu! Well, be natural and have no style.
Then let's start pruning. Now is the season for Yushu to grow, and new buds will soon grow after pruning!
The old pile of paper shown below.
This is mainly because the root system is more troublesome to handle. Of course, if there are not many roots, there is no need to deal with them.
Don't water for two days before pruning!
Pot soil should not be too wet, otherwise it will rot easily. Yushu is slightly drought-tolerant, but not waterlogged, which we should still know.
After pruning the root system, don't water it immediately, wait until its wound heals (scabs), just like most succulents.
Yushu generally grows very fast and its shape is difficult to control. Therefore, it is necessary to control its fertilizer and water, especially in the spring growth season. Don't let its leaves grow, but also shoot according to the length of the branches, leaving 5-6 leaves as well. Then, train them purposefully according to their favorite shapes.
This model is also a kind of cutting. In order to shape it, it is hard to trim it every two years, but it is worthwhile to make it grow into what you want.
Of course, it is also possible to combine Pinza and pruning for modeling. Yushu, which is now used as a bonsai, is mostly cut, so it has good plasticity and is suitable for small and medium-sized bonsai.
Yushu has sparse branches and leaves, soft and tough stems, round and green leaves and sparse branches. It's best to be a vigorous tree, thin and oblique in shape. Of course, it can't be trimmed as lush as banyan bonsai.
Mainly tied flat, supplemented by pruning; By cutting and reasonably leaving branches, the skeleton of the tree is cultivated, and then the branches and leaves are bent and tied tightly with flat strips, and the shape of the bonsai is completed.
When placing pots, we should first use materials, carry out shaping and pruning, and keep the branches and necessary bud eyes needed for modeling. At the same time, it is necessary to determine the planting mode in the basin (direct planting, oblique planting or oblique planting, and root lifting treatment) according to the modeling needs, and then plant in the maintenance basin.
After a period of cultivation, it entered the stage of binding. Aluminum wire is more suitable for coiling. In the growing season, as long as the branch thickness reaches 0.5 cm.
Water should be controlled before binding, and the leaves should be as dry as possible without wilting, so as to increase the flexibility of branches and reduce brittleness.
Winding should be carried out at a 45-degree angle close to the bark, and branches and leaves should not be damaged. After the wire is wound, bend the branches with both hands and twist them gently along the winding direction to meet the modeling requirements.
For example, the traditional cloud shape should be made long where it needs to be preserved, sharpened when it reaches a satisfactory length, and controlled to extend outward. When the shape is well controlled, it should be picked frequently (recyclable: picking), and the plant should not be allowed to continue to expand.
PS: Generally, fertilization is not needed, especially nitrogen fertilizer. It doesn't matter if there is less water (it is drought-tolerant). Too much water is easy to rot roots.
