The island is well-preserved, with consulates, churches, mansions, foreign companies, schools and hospitals established in Britain, the United States and other countries. There are all kinds of cornice buildings in Minnan style, including the Bagua Building called "Little White House", the majestic and towering Catholic Church, the European-style buildings with red tiles and big slopes, and various villas combining Chinese and Western styles. There are still more than 1000 buildings.

Gulangyu's houses and streets are built on the mountain, and the buildings are patchy and high and low. The shadows in the deep alley are graceful, the vines on the wall are climbing, and the bonsai on the windowsill is competing for beauty. Walking in it, it's like shuttling through an alley criss-crossing time and space. The main attractions on the island are Sunlight Rock, Luzhuang Garden, Hao Yue Garden, Underwater World, Yuyuan Garden, Huandao Road, Gulangyu Island and natural bathing beach. Sunlight Rock, commonly known as "Huangyan", is located at the top of Longtou Mountain in the south-central part of Gulangyu Island, with an altitude of 92.68 meters, which is the highest peak of Gulangyu Island. There is a circular platform at the top of the rock, standing on the peak and overlooking the railing, Gulangyu has a panoramic view-the coast is winding and the rocks are undulating; Green trees, red tiles and sands meet; Bays, reefs, cliffs and hills set each other off; Huge ships and seagulls soar ... forming a bright and dazzling picture of the island. Being there, thinking about the past and caring about the present will make people deeply moved. After swimming in Sunlight Rock, we walked down the mountain and walked along the winding alley for about 500 meters. Suddenly, we felt that the world had changed. The natural bathing beach in front of us is an intoxicating beauty: the sky in the distance, the sea is the same color, white waves fly with seagulls, the sea breeze is refreshing, the beach, green trees, blue sea and colorful clouds reflect each other in the beautiful sunset, and people swimming in the bay cheer.

There is a world-famous piano museum on the hill near the bathing beach. The island is also known as the piano island and the hometown of music. Gulangyu people were influenced by western church music earlier and formed a tradition of loving music. There are more than 600 pianos on the island, with the density of pianos per capita ranking first in China, and there are more than 100 music families. Years and storms have endowed Gulangyu with the profound connotation of the intersection of Chinese and Western cultures and the blending of natural landscape and human landscape, which has become a unique and valuable tourism resource. The night view of Gulangyu Island is like a big flowerpot with dazzling flowers, which contrasts with the neon lights and colored spotlights in the bustling downtown area of Xiamen across the river. The three-dimensional space of island, sea and sky is integrated into one, becoming more beautiful and charming, just like a fairyland on earth.
