What is the basis for shaping and pruning peach trees?
(1) Variety characteristics

Different varieties of peach trees have different growth and fruiting habits. Such as germination rate, branching ability, branching angle (Table 2 1), difficulty of flowering, main types of fruiting branches (Table 22), fruit setting rate, etc. For varieties with open tree posture and weak growth, attention should be paid to raising the angle of main branches when pruning; Varieties with upright tree posture and vigorous growth should pay attention to the opening angle to ease the growth of trees. For varieties with short fruit branches or bouquets, some long branches should be stretched out every year when pruning to promote the formation of short branches.

(2) Age and growth potential of trees

Peach trees of different ages have different growth results and different requirements for shaping and pruning. Young and early fruiting, the tree grows vigorously, so the crown should be opened as soon as possible to alleviate the growth potential, and the pruning amount should be light and long. The main task of pruning in full fruit stage is to keep the tree growing healthily and prolong its life in full fruit stage. Results The growth potential was weak in the later stage, so we should reduce the opening angle of the main branch, cut more and shrink more, and enhance the growth potential of the main branch.

(3) Pruning reaction

Different varieties of peach trees not only have different types of main bearing branches, but also have different lengths and strengths of branches, and different pruning reactions will occur after cutting off branches. Varieties with long fruit branches have strong growth potential, and branches with fruiting ability can still germinate after heavy and short cutting. Varieties with short fruit branches should be lightly cut and cultivated to produce more fruits.

(4) cultivation method

Peach trees with sparse density in the open field have large growth space, so open heart-shaped trees should be adopted to extend the crown in all directions. The pruning method is mainly short cutting, supplemented by thinning branches. For peach trees planted in high density or protected fields, due to the limited space, it is advisable to adopt open or spindle-shaped two main branches, and the pruning methods are mainly thinning and light cutting, supplemented by short cutting.

(5) Fertilizer and water conditions

For peach orchards with fertile soil and sufficient water, it is advisable to cut lightly, which will cause excessive tree potential and reduce yield and fruit quality; On the contrary, moderate shear should be carried out.

(6) Climatic conditions

It is rainy in the south in spring, and the short cut is too heavy, so it can't be long in vain, and most of the branches are thinly cut and lightly cut. But the northern spring is dry and sunny, and the pruning of the fruiting branches is shorter.
