Desert Rose Overview
Desert rose likes high temperature, dry and sunny environment. It is not cold tolerant. It was originally found in Kenya and Tanzania in Africa. Suitable for planting on sandy loam soil rich in calcium, loose, breathable and well-drained. Tolerant to waterlogging, growth temperature is 25-30 degrees.
Desert rose pruning time
The pruning time of desert rose should be determined according to its growth time. Twice a year is the best time to prune. Generally speaking, desert roses will enter their vigorous growth period in May, so they need to be pruned one month in advance so that more new branches can sprout in May. Therefore, April is suitable for pruning every year, and it is also the peak season for desert roses. After the flowering period ends in October, the branches and leaves that are not growing well and are too lush should be properly pruned to reduce nutrient consumption and allow the desert rose to survive the winter better. Pruning at this time will have the least impact on the desert rose. Font Desert Rose needs to be pitted during the seedling stage. When the desert rose grows to about 10cm, it can be cored. In fact, the coring method is also very simple. It only requires the removal of leaves from the upper part of the plant, effectively promoting branching. When the rose grows more branches in the desert, thinning can be carried out, leaving 3-5 strong branches on the main branch. Make sure the branches are in different directions to increase the overall layering, and then cut off all the remaining branches, which can effectively prevent the branches from being too dense. When the desert rose reaches a certain height, it can be cut back. The reserved height should be selected according to the growth of the plant, and then all remaining parts should be cut off. Not only the main branches but also the side branches should be cut short. Use sharp tools when pruning and avoid using blunt instruments. When pruning, pay attention to keeping the wound flat to facilitate wound recovery. During the growth process of desert rose, due to sudden changes in the environment and improper maintenance methods, the leaves of desert rose will wither. If the leaves of the desert rose at home have withered, cut off the diseased and dead branches in time, and don't be reluctant to prune. Only after all are removed can the problem of dead branches be effectively solved.
Desert rose pruning methods
First, when pruning desert roses, you must grasp the specific proportions and do not leave too much, otherwise the pruning will be meaningless, but you cannot leave too much. Pruning branches too short will also have a negative impact on their nutrient delivery. Second, when it comes to pruning tools, use sharp tools so that the wound can heal better if it is smooth. In addition, the pruning tools must be disinfected before pruning to avoid infection of the wound with germs. Do not water in the sun immediately after pruning, wait until the wound recovers.
