Carbon rods are nonmetallic products. It is an essential cutting material before welding in carbon arc gouging cutting process. It is made of carbon, graphite and appropriate binder through extrusion, baking at 2200℃ and then copper plating. High temperature resistance, good conductivity, not easy to break, suitable for cutting metals into required shapes.
Carbon rods are easy to conduct electricity because of their high service temperature and good chemical stability. Now it has been widely used in national defense, machinery, metallurgy, chemical industry, casting, non-ferrous alloys, light chemicals and other fields, especially black carbon rods, and also in ceramics, semiconductors, medicine, environmental protection, laboratory analysis and other fields, becoming the most widely used non-metallic materials today. When cutting steel, inflammable and explosive gas is not needed like oxygen-acetylene flame cutting, so the cost is low and the operation is safe. Arc cutting can be used to process all kinds of metals that cannot be processed by gas cutting, such as cast iron, stainless steel, copper, aluminum and so on. High efficiency and satisfactory results.
Carbon rods are hard and brittle, with small expansion coefficient, resistance to quenching and heating, difficult to deform, good chemical stability, strong acid resistance, no reaction with strong acid, poor alkali resistance, and corrosion and decomposition of rods at high temperature. The bending strength of carbon rods becomes harder with the increase of component temperature. According to the ministerial standard, the element resistance reflected by the true resistivity is measured at 25 micro-ohms. The load current density on the surface of the component is closely related to the raw material formula and pressing density of the black carbon rod, which can be adjusted as needed.
