How to plant a house full of red flowers
In midsummer, the flowers are full of red flowers. Lagerstroemia indica is a deciduous shrub or tree, which blooms in July-10. The flowering period is as long as 100 days and the flowers are colorful. Also known as "Hundred Days Red" and "Full House Red". Because its bark is smooth and clean, branches and leaves will tremble slightly when touching the tree body, as if afraid of itching, so it is also called "itchy tree" and "skinless tree" Strong adaptability, easy to raise seedlings, cultivate and manage.

First, raise seedlings. Lagerstroemia indica has strong tillering ability, which can be layered, cut, divided into plants, sown and grafted. Sowing can be done by drilling holes in spring. Cover the seeds with thin soil and then with grass (film) to keep the bed soil moist. It will sprout in 20-40 days. Hardwood cutting is carried out before germination in spring. Take annual strong branches from blooming trees, cut them into 10- 15cm, and insert them into the seedbed at the angle of 1/2-2/3 to make them take root in May. Cuttings of shoots are carried out in July and August. Grafting can be carried out in spring when sap flows, or in summer (the buds on the scion must not germinate), and ordinary bud grafting or branch grafting can be adopted.

Second, planting. Choose a place where the leeward is sunny, warm and humid, the soil layer is deep, the soil is loose and fertile, the groundwater level is low, and it is not easy to accumulate water. Dig a big pit and plant it shallowly. Before planting, apply fully decomposed farmyard manure to the pit bottom, cover the soil with the fertilizer, then sow the seedlings, keep the roots stretched, step on them in layers, and keep the seedlings upright. If you choose large perennial seedlings, you should plant complete soil balls. After planting, irrigate the roots with water. Don't plant in rainy days or when the soil is too muddy.

Third, plastic trimming. Lagerstroemia indica has strong tillering ability and is resistant to pruning. In order to cultivate Lagerstroemia indica with beautiful crown, it needs pruning in time. For the selection of seedlings for planting, after planting, 3-4 full buds can be shortened to promote 3-4 robust new branches, and other buds can be removed, in which the uppermost new branch is used as the trunk extension head to make it grow upright, and other branches below can continue to core in summer to promote the development of lateral branches. Before germination in the next spring, the trunk extension and main branches should be cut short at the strong buds to maintain the growth advantage and uprightness of the trunk extension. The main lateral branches should be evenly distributed, the spacing should be reasonable, and the branches with overgrown weeds and fierce competition should be removed. Roots and unnecessary buds in the crown should be eradicated in time to keep the crown intact and transparent. For flower branches, 2-3 buds can be cut short, and the lowest branch can be cut off year by year, and the branch point can be raised to a suitable height continuously. Cut the inflorescence after flowering to save nutrition.

Fourth, management. Lagerstroemia indica likes fat, bears drought, is afraid of waterlogging, likes light, and is slightly tolerant of shade. Pay attention to weeding, loosening soil, drainage and fertilization, keep the soil moist and water it in time, especially in dry season. Fertilization is mainly based on fully fermented farmyard manure in furrow in winter, and compound fertilizer can be topdressing in growing season. Usually, scale insects, spiny moths, green-tailed silkworm moths and powdery mildew should be prevented in time, and pesticides or fungicides should be sprayed when necessary.
