What is geology and what is landforms?

Let’s use an inaccurate analogy. It’s not very appropriate, but it’s helpful for understanding.

If you compare a region to a face, "geology" is the "texture of the earth", which is equivalent to the tissue structure of facial skin (such as epidermis, dermis, subcutaneous tissue) and bones, etc. , "landform" or "the appearance of the earth" is equivalent to the appearance of this face, which is the result of the combined effects of skin tissue structure and bones (internal factors) and makeup, plastic surgery, injuries, etc. (external factors) form.

For the earth, the internal factors that form various "landforms" are ① geological tectonic movements (such as crustal movements causing rock layers to tilt, bend, fracture and stagger, forming mountains and valleys) ② the rock composition of this area ( Such as granite, limestone, etc.). External causes are erosion by various external forces, such as wind, running water, etc. The internal and external forces work together to form various landforms.

Landform is the surface form that can be directly seen by the naked eye, and geology is the underground composition that requires equipment to explore. (This is not a definition, just to help understanding)

It doesn’t matter what type of geology, the classification of landforms is more complicated. In college, "Topography and Landforms" was a thick book

According to landforms The overall shape is divided into: mountains, plateaus, basins, hills and plains.

According to the location of the landforms: river valley landforms, cliff landforms, coastal landforms...

Special landforms: karst landforms, Danxia landforms, Guilin landscapes, mushroom rocks...
