Does eggplant need cross pruning?
Eggplant needs cross pruning.

Eggplants must also be forked, otherwise the yield is not high, and there are not many forks, which are similar to peppers. Eggplant can't grow too tall at once. When the eggplant is forked, remove the weak branches and keep the strong branches, or remove all the side branches below the eggplant and keep only the main stem. Or when the eggplant is forked, keep two stout branches growing at the same time, and then keep one branch at a time and remove the other.

To plant eggplant in a slightly larger area, it is necessary to branch and hang vines. On the one hand, it can reduce the consumption of plant nutrients by useless branches and promote fruit and fruit expansion. On the other hand, it can increase ventilation and light transmission in the field, reduce diseases and promote fruit setting. Because the plants are very tall, eggplant in greenhouse needs to be cultivated by hanging vines. In order to facilitate ventilation and light transmission in the field and operation, two pairs of branches with similar growth conditions are selected to stay, other branches are removed, and hanging ropes are attached to these two branches.

Fertilization management of eggplant

Eggplant should be planted in fertile soil, deep soil layer and sufficient light. At least one mu of decomposed organic fertilizer 1000 kg, calcium superphosphate 50-1000 kg and nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium ternary compound fertilizer 50 kg should be applied during soil preparation. Eggplant should be watered after planting, and then watered with slow seedling water after five or six days. The purpose is to make eggplant seedlings have enough water supply and grow strong and big. Squatting for more than ten days will bear fruit.

Normal water and fertilizer management began after fruit setting. Eggplants in the open field are usually irrigated in furrows. If there is a lot of rain, there will be few watering times. The interval between watering and raining is almost 10- 15 days. Water thoroughly every time, and apply a small amount of fertilizer each time, with 5 kg of urea and 5 kg of potassium sulfate per mu.
