What is the probability of sequela of deviated nasal septum operation?
Long-term persistent nasal congestion caused by nasal septum deviation; High deviation of nasal septum affects sinus drainage; Repeated epistaxis caused by deviation of nasal septum; Reflex headache caused by deviation of nasal septum; Vascular motor rhinitis (structural rhinitis) with obvious deviation of nasal septum. Surgical correction is the only treatment. So what is the probability of sequelae of deviated nasal septum surgery? Let me share with you some sequelae of nasal septum deviation surgery. Come and have a look with me.

Sequela of nasal septum deviation operation

Improper operation of deviated nasal septum may cause the following symptoms:

1. Intracranial complications: rare. Abscess of nasal septum or rupture of sieve plate will increase the chance of intracranial infection.

2, the bridge of the nose collapsed: mostly due to excessive removal of the bridge of the nose when removing the cartilage of the nasal septum during surgery. If the postoperative nasal septum abscess is not treated in time and properly, resulting in chondromalacia and necrosis, this deformity will also occur.

3, nasal septum perforation:

① It mostly happens during soft tissue dissection during operation, and both sides of it are broken due to rough movements.

② When nasal mucosa is infected with deviated inflammation of nasal septum, even unilateral tearing can lead to perforation.

4, nasal septum abscess: nasal septum hematoma caused by bacterial infection. When nasal cavity is infected or purulent secretion is too much, improper operation timing can cause incision infection.

Types of deviated nasal septum diseases

There are various types of nasal septum deviation, showing different symptoms. Cartilage and bones will deflect. The anterior end of cartilage is deviated and protrudes into a nasal vestibule, which is called anterior dislocation of cartilage of nasal septum.

According to the shape of the deviation, the deviation of nasal septum can be divided into:

1.? c? Shape deviation: the nasal septum protrudes to one side, usually limited to cartilage, or cartilage and ethmoid medial plate deviate to one side at the same time.

2.? s? Shape deviation; The middle plate of ethmoid bone is biased to one side and the septal cartilage is biased to the opposite side.

3. Crista: the long ridge on the nasal septum, from front to bottom to back. Most of them are located at the upper edge of nasal ridge or maxillary vomerous. Some ridges are caused by overlapping cartilage dislocation.

4. spinous process (talus process): it is a localized sharp process, which is often located at the junction of cartilage and bone of nasal septum.

According to the deflection direction, there are longitudinal deflection, lateral deflection and oblique deflection. According to the deflection position, it can be divided into high deflection, low deflection, front deflection and rear deflection.

Symptoms of deviated nasal septum disease

The severity of nasal septum deviation symptoms is related to the type and degree of nasal septum deviation. According to its deflection direction, there are C-shaped deflection to one side and S-shaped deflection to both sides. According to its shape, it can be divided into two types: ridge (semi-circular protrusion) and rectangular protrusion (pointed protrusion). Dislocation of cartilage of nasal septum caused by trauma can sometimes protrude from nasal vestibule.

When the nasal septum is deviated at a high position, the deviated part often comes into close contact with the middle turbinate, which can cause stenosis of the middle nasal meatus. The deviation of nasal septum is obvious, and the sizes of nasal cavities on both sides are obviously different. If the nasal cavity is obviously narrow, the contralateral turbinate often has compensatory hypertrophy.

The main symptoms are as follows:

(1) Persistent nasal congestion. One side is C-shaped, indicating unilateral nasal congestion, and the other two sides are S-shaped, indicating bilateral nasal congestion. This is the most common symptom of nasal septum deviation. If the nasal congestion is serious, the sense of smell will decline.

(2) Reflex headache, if the deviated part is located in the middle turbinate or inferior turbinate, and it is in contact with or even deviated from the turbinate, it often causes ipsilateral headache, which can also be one of the causes of nasal nerve pain. After nasal drip with vasoconstrictor or nasal mucosal surface anesthesia, headache can be alleviated or disappeared.

(3) Increased nasal secretions: Deviation of nasal septum stimulates glands and increases nasal secretions. If the secondary infection stimulates the nasal mucosa and secretes too much, it is mostly mucinous or purulent secretion. If accompanied by sinus infection, it is suppurative.

(4) Symptoms of adjacent organs: If the deviated part of the nasal septum is located at the corresponding position of the middle nasal meatus and the middle turbinate, it will press the middle turbinate and move outward, or the middle turbinate will be over-gasified and the mucosa will be thickened, which will hinder the sinus drainage opening to the middle nasal meatus. Over time, it can induce sinusitis and produce various symptoms. If the ventilation and drainage of the eustachian tube are affected, tinnitus and hearing loss may occur.

(5) The mucous membrane on the convex surface, ridge or spur of nosebleed is thin and often stimulated by airflow and dust, so the mucous membrane is dry and erosive, which is prone to nosebleed, but sometimes nosebleed can also be seen on the concave surface of nosebleed.

(6) The symptoms of vasomotor rhinitis are aggravated.
