Why does the Sphinx have no nose?
Careful observation will reveal that the Sphinx has no nose. No nose is definitely not forgotten during construction, but later disappeared. There are many theories about why there is no nose. The most popular one was destroyed by Napoleon. 1798 When Napoleon invaded Egypt, he saw its majesty as if he were demonstrating to himself. In a rage, he ordered his men to blow off its nose with shells. Others said that Napoleon shot off his nose and wanted to go in and see what was inside. These statements are not reliable, as early as before Napoleon, there have been records about it without a nose. Another way of saying it is that 500 years ago, the Sphinx was regarded as a "target" by the Mamluk soldiers of the Egyptian king (the guards of medieval Egypt), and perhaps its nose fell off at that time. However, this statement is not very credible. Because the Egyptians have always worshipped the Sphinx, it is unlikely to take it as a target. Why it has no nose is a mystery.
