What are the planting methods and precautions of peony flowers?
Paeonia lactiflora is known as "Hua Xian" and "Flower Appearance". As the flower of love since ancient times, it has been honored as the representative flower of Valentine's Day in China. Paeonia lactiflora is a fleshy root with long root system, low temperature tolerance and fertile soil. It should be planted in fertile and loose sandy loam with good drainage, and planted in clay and low-lying water, which is easy to rot. I like plenty of sunshine, but my leaves are easy to die in the hot summer sun. I like the cool summer climate, so I should pay attention to shading.

There are four key points in peony cultivation: 1. Planting time: Paeonia lactiflora likes sunshine and is cold-resistant. It should be cold and afraid of heat, and it doesn't grow well when it is hot in summer. Autumn is the best time to plant peony. 2. Soil quality: Paeonia lactiflora is a fleshy root. Loose, fertile and slightly acidic sandy soil should be selected when planting. Not suitable for growth in alkaline soil. If the soil is too alkaline, it will cause the leaves to turn yellow and even shrink and die. 3, plastic pruning: In order to make peony flowers colorful and vigorous, plastic pruning is very important. Peony can be planted for 2-3 years. For varieties with strong growth potential and vigorous growth, they can be pruned into dried peony. For varieties with weak growth potential, the weak branches are generally cut off and the strong branches are kept. 4. Pest control: Common diseases and pests of Paeonia lactiflora include brown spot, anthracnose, rust, root rot and root-knot nematode disease, longhorn beetle, red spider, scarab, mole cricket and so on. Pest control should focus on early prevention. For fungal diseases, mancozeb wettable powder should be diluted 400 times to prevent and control them; For insect pests, it is necessary to use diluted 100 times metalaxyl EC for spray control.

Matters needing attention in peony planting: 1. Paeonia lactiflora should not be transplanted frequently after planting, otherwise it will damage the root system and affect the growth and flowering; 2. In order to make Paeonia lactiflora grow well, we should apply fertilizer reasonably every year. After each fertilization, water should be poured enough, and the soil should be loosened immediately to reduce water evaporation. Regular intertillage and weeding should be carried out in rainy season; 3. After the first frost of potted peony, cut off the withered branches and leaves to prevent pests and diseases. You don't need to do indoor activities in winter. Put it under a sunny balcony or eaves, and the soil in the basin should not be too dry. 4. Paeonia lactiflora should always prune flower buds. In the flowering period of plants, too dense branches should be cut off, and the number of buds on each branch should not exceed 8, so that nutrients can be more concentrated and plants can bloom more brightly. 5. Paeonia lactiflora has certain cold tolerance and heat resistance. The optimum temperature for plant growth is between 18℃ and 26℃, and the temperature should not exceed 40℃ in summer to avoid plant withering, and the temperature should not be lower than 5℃ in winter to avoid Paeonia lactiflora going into dormancy due to low temperature.
