How to raise potted figs
Ficus carica was introduced to China in the Tang Dynasty, and now it is cultivated in both north and south. The requirements for soil conditions are not high, but they are not cold-resistant. When the temperature reaches-12℃ in winter, the top of new shoots will start to freeze. Highlight; It has a strong root system and is relatively drought-tolerant. To raise figs well, we should start with their habits.

First of all, the soil should be suitable. Because the root system of fig is relatively developed, it is best to choose a larger flowerpot. Although the requirements for soil are not high, it is necessary to ensure good porosity, ventilation and drainage.

Secondly, we should pay attention to proper watering, keep the basin moist in spring and autumn, and water it 2 ~ 3 times a week; Summer is hot, so you need to water it once in the morning and once in the evening, but remember to water it too much. Enter the dormant period in winter, and water it once every half month to keep the soil slightly dry.

The third is to control the temperature. It is best to move the potted plants indoors before the first frost in autumn and put them in a sunny place indoors. It is also best to keep ventilation. If the room temperature is above 5 degrees, it will be safe in winter.

The fourth is rational fertilization. Appropriate application of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer during the growth period, with the ratio of 0.5: 1: 1. Fertilize only once every half month during the peak growth period, or you can make your own fertilizer, mainly plant ash and chicken manure. When applying fertilizer, remember to apply thin fertilizer frequently to avoid burning the roots.

Finally, plants should be pruned in time, and potted figs must be pruned at ordinary times, otherwise the ornamental value of potted figs will be affected. When it grows to 20 cm high, the head and tip can be cut off, which not only controls the height of the plant, but also promotes the differentiation of branches and buds. Usually found dead branches, diseased branches, we should trim some branches that are too dense or affect the appearance in time.
