(a hundred years of vicissitudes, old street.
1 Nanmen and Caoxie Street
According to several "old Nanning" who live on Zhongshan Road, the northern section of Zhongshan Road was originally called South Gate, and this title existed as early as the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The intersection of the South Gate and the present South Ring Road is called the South Gate. South of the South Gate, which is now the southern section of Zhongshan Road, used to be Caoxie Street, also called Nanmenwai, and many old people still call it that. Straw shoe street, as its name implies, was a "slum" at that time. People lived here and wore straw shoes. Residents are mostly porters and porters at Yangguan Wharf near the river. In the 1920s, when the South Gate was named Zhongshan Road, it did not include Caoxie Street. It was not until after liberation 1952 that the authorities "merged" Caoxie Street with the south gate, collectively known as Zhongshan Road.
Yangguan Wharf is gone now, but a century ago, it was almost the only big port in Nanning, located along the river of Caoxie Street at the end of the southern section of Zhongshan Road. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, people who traveled in Guangxi in Hunan once declared in his "Ten Years in the South": "The Yongjiang River is connected to Wuzhou and Guangzhou in the east and Baise and Longzhou in the west, so Nanning is also a gathering place for stagnant water and goods. The key port in southern Guangxi is Nanning. " He said, "Tianjin, a port, is the dock of foreign customs. The ship stretches, the sails are staggered, people board on the shore, people land on the ship, and the south gate is the place where cigarette butts and people gather, the hometown of five places. " From this, we can get a glimpse of the "South Gate". It's no exaggeration to call it "Wang Jie" in the present words.
Because it is a "busy street", it should conform to the development of "commercial trade". According to the staff of Nanning Zhibu, at 1993, the south gate, which was originally only 4 meters wide, was widened to 20 meters, and the pavement was paved with cement and soil. There are Minsheng Road, Xingning Road, Quan Min Road, Linde Road, Hehe Road and Taoyuan Road. Most of the sidewalks on both sides of these seven roads are two or three-story arcade-style blue brick houses. The arcade on Zhongshan Road has a unique charm because of its simplicity and elegance.
2 Sun Yat-sen's Vernacular Speech
192 1 year1October, in preparation for the northern expedition, Sun Yat-sen personally visited Guangxi. On October 23rd, 65438/kloc-0, Mr. Wang went up the river from Guangzhou by gunboat and arrived in Nanning. On 24th and 25th, he planned the Northern Expedition with Ma and other Guangxi politicians. On the afternoon of 26th to 28th, people from all walks of life in Nanning welcomed them in batches. There are three locations for the welcome meeting: the Guangxi Provincial Assembly Auditorium on Fu Qian Street; Auditorium of Nanning Chamber of Commerce in Sha Street; Club Street Aodong Club Aohua Primary School Playground.
In the Auditorium of Guangxi Provincial Assembly on Fu Qian Street, Sun Yat-sen was welcomed by more than 200 students from the Third Normal University of Guangxi Province at that time, and listened to his speech, including Mr. Ye Ming, who later became a member of Nanning Revolutionary Committee. Ye Lao recorded in his reminiscence article that after the host gave a welcome speech, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, who was sitting on the rostrum, stood up from the plush chair and walked into the middle of the students to give a speech in Cantonese. Let's talk about the outline of the Three People's Principles and the domestic form at that time, and then talk about the Guangxi Rehabilitation Policy, which requires Qi Xin to work together to overthrow warlords, maintain social order, develop industrial and agricultural production, plant trees and build roads, revitalize agricultural schools, and train talents. "Because Dr. Sun Yat-sen's vernacular is fluent, clear and pleasant, the audience applauds every time he talks about important places. Although everyone stood for more than an hour, they were not only lacking in spirit, but also refreshed. " Mr. Ye still remembers that after the speech, the stormy applause continued until the "saluter" shouted "Attention".
3. Deng Xiaoping is in Guangchang car light shop.
1929, Yu, who was in power in Guangxi at that time, had a bad feeling towards Chiang Kai-shek, so he sought China's support and help. It is in this political background that Deng Xiaoping, as the representative of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, came to Nanning to carry out the United front and army movement.
1July, 929, 25-year-old Deng Xiaoping, alias Deng Bin, and Gong Yinbing, a member of the Central Special Branch, went from Shanghai to Hong Kong, turned to Guangzhou and Wuzhou, and arrived in Nanning by boat. As soon as they arrived, they went to Guangchang car light shop at 96 Zhongshan Road. According to Chen Xinde of Guangxi Party History Research Office, Guangchang Automobile Lamp Shop was originally a rice shop opened by a man named Lei, with the shop number "". After the party organization rented him, it opened a lantern shop downstairs and changed the store number to "Guangchang". Under the guise of maintenance and taxis, the Guangxi Special Committee was upstairs.
According to Lu Wenquan, an associate researcher in the Research Office of Nanning Municipal Committee, the old public security bureau, who lives at the intersection of * * * and Minle, still often goes to Zhongshan Road Automobile Lamp Shop to discuss and guide the work with Lei, the head of Guangxi Special Committee. He and Zhang, Yu Zuoyu and other comrades instigated the rebellion of Guangxi Teaching Corps, which was transformed by * * producers with * * producers as cadres. It was this mutiny that laid the foundation for the Longzhou Uprising in the baise uprising in February 1/kloc-0 and the relocation of officers and men of Guangxi Teaching Corps in February1.
(2) See the arcade several times in the Spring and Autumn Period
1 cycling business downstairs.
Wei Laobo, who is over 60 years old, grew up on Zhongshan Road. In his own words, he is an old "Zhongshan man". In the 1980s, he did porridge business here and became a group of people who "got rich first". He told us that he was indebted to the arcade today.
Zhongshan Road is not a commercial street, unlike Xingning Road and Minsheng Road. In the 1950s and 1960s, there were only a few state-owned shops on the street, which was relatively deserted. In the 1980s, several "Zhongshan people" were ready to move and open their doors to do business. Selling rice noodles, making sour things and burning herbal tea, Wei Laobo also made porridge. At first, not many people set the table for dinner at home. Old man Wei had a brainwave and moved the table downstairs. Who knows that this move actually moved a "million households" (at that time, the "million households" were very large)! There are endless customers, only the small sitting space is to blame. My wife has been busy all day, but she still smiles from ear to ear. Later, she invited two sisters from Guizhou to help. Wei Laohan made a fortune, and "Zhongshan people" followed suit and put the tables downstairs. Gradually, the whole street became prosperous. "Later, when someone wanted to come to Zhongshan Road for dinner, they simply said,' Go to the arcade restaurant'!" Wei Laobo said.
"Riding downstairs to eat should have a different taste. Earlier, I saw a customer take out a camera to take pictures! " Wei Laobo also told us that he stopped doing it now, rented the facade to others, and his family bought a commercial house in a certain district to live in.
The night market has become a scene in Tancheng.
Zhongshan Road Night Market is a scene in Tancheng.
Before nightfall, the staff wearing red armbands will cross the car guardrail with small wheels at both ends of the street, prohibiting vehicles from passing, as if preparing to make diners feel "safe". It's dark, the lights are still on, the smell of firewood, rice, oil, salt, sauce, vinegar and tea is everywhere, and the street is getting dark. Suddenly, the light came on. It's like "blowing open the petals of ten thousand pear trees", and it's in the "dense fog"! It turns out that food stalls are transparent light bulbs provoked by thin bamboo poles, hidden in smoke, steam and popularity, and look like colorful nebulae from a distance.
Now food stalls are no longer placed under the arcade, but crowded on both sides of the road. So is the so-called "food stall". At this time, the arcade became a "private seat". Needless to say, the oil chestnut in Beijing, the snake soup in Shantou, the steamed stuffed bun in Yangzhou and the Lamian Noodles in Yinchuan; Needless to say, water hinges come from the northeast, hot pot from Sichuan, mutton kebabs from Xinjiang and beef offal from Hainan. Just boiled chicken, roast duck, grilled fish, snails and other Guangxi specialties have unlimited flavor. Mango, litchi, longan, banana, orange, etc. All the juicing products are "made in Guangxi", with real color, fragrance, taste and beauty. The whole night market is open until two or three in the morning.
It is worth mentioning that Sister Zhang, who runs the restaurant, told us that people often call downstairs to reserve seats. The fireworks in the food stalls are very heavy and noisy. It's quiet to ride downstairs. After midnight, there is an arcade "top", which does not touch "dew" and does not affect the body. We chatted with a Mr. Lin sitting under the arcade, but he unexpectedly called this place a "box"! "The arcade box does not have the shortcomings of air-conditioned boxes, but it has the advantages of elegant air-conditioned boxes. Moreover, it also gives people a feeling of' away from the smell of fireworks'. "
3. Centennial Church: "Emanuel"
Christian church is located at the end of the street near Yongjiang River in the south section of Zhongshan Road. According to Li Weiyang, the pastor of the church, the church was built by the British "Pi Bian Fu" in 1907. There are still three years, and it will be a whole century in 2007. The church hospital adjacent to the church, named "Daojiu Hospital", has now become the dormitory of a hospital in Nanning. Of course, the church arcade is different, with "western culture" and religious color.
The four pillars of the arcade are square, but the top of the pillar is changed to a spire, towering into the sky, quite gothic, with a red cross hanging in the middle. The three windows upstairs are long and narrow, with curved roofs, which are unified with the "Gothic" spire style. Different from other arcades, most of them are small and exquisite "Chinese style" square windows. The appearance of the arcade is slightly vicissitudes, but due to repairs, there are no traces of years of erosion. Like all churches, it looks quiet, solemn and mysterious. However, it always feels a bit "archaic". Later, after listening to pastor Li Weiyang, I realized that the original wooden floor and wooden ceiling were "smashed" during the Cultural Revolution, and they could only be replaced with cement, so the original "ancient" taste was diluted. On both sides of the pulpit, there are two Chinese characters that are a bit like seal script. When read together, it is the puzzling "Emanuel". Pastor Li explained to us that this is the transliteration of Xiboxin, which means "God is with us".
After visiting the church, it was already noon. When we came out, we found that the bike parked at the door was gone. After searching for a long time, I found that the bicycles were placed end to end in the corridor of the church! When the car is recovered, people turn grief into joy. At this time, just two women who looked like clergy came over and couldn't help but respond immediately: "Emmanuel!" " They don't look as serious as we thought, but they are full of fresh and energetic smiles. ...
