According to historical records, thousands of people around Fiona Fang go to Grandma Temple to burn incense on the first day of the first month and the sixteenth day of the first month every year.
Grandma Temple, according to legend, was built to commemorate Queen Chu Zhuangwang, one of the five tyrants in the Spring and Autumn Period. When Chu Zhuangwang conquered the Central Plains, he married a beautiful and kind girl and became a queen. The humid climate in Chu made the queen's body covered with scabies and stinking, so she lost Chu Zhuangwang's favor and was driven out of the palace. After leaving the palace, the queen begged all the way back to her hometown in the Central Plains, settled down in the deep ditch (now cherry ditch) in the southwest suburb of Zhengzhou, and made a living by eating wild fruits and drinking spring water. Later, her scabies gradually improved, not only healed, but also became bright and ruddy. Later, it spread to Chu Zhuangwang, and Chu Zhuangwang sent someone to take her back to the palace, but she decided not to go back to Chu and wanted to spend the rest of her life here. After the queen's death, her body was buried under the altar in the temple. People named the place where she lived as Shendong, Yu Xia, and built a temple for her in front of Shendong, where she was carved and honored as "Grandma", so this temple was called Grandma Temple. Since the completion of Grandma Temple, every year on the first and sixteenth day of the first month, people from nearby Fiona Fang Baili will come to burn incense and worship, and they will "pray for their children to be happy and safe", and "the tenth blessing in life will send their children to win Guanyin" and "grandma's blessing will make the whole family happy".
There is a spring in front of grandma's temple. It is said that the queen only drinks the spring water here every day, and her scabies will heal and her skin will become smooth and tender. Therefore, many ordinary people always bring back some spring water after worshipping in grandma temple. Those with skin diseases can help treat skin diseases, and those without skin diseases can live a long and healthy life. There is a folk saying that "one returns three": to take a bucket of water, you need to return three buckets of water first.
"the tenth blessing in life, sending a son to win Guanyin." Grandma Temple attracts hundreds of believers, pilgrims and tourists from all over the world to worship and visit with its long history, magical legends, unique regulations, exquisite art and excellent reputation.
