How to maintain hawthorn bonsai?
After artificial pruning and modeling, the potted hawthorn tree has beautiful plant shape, white and elegant flowers, and the ripe fruit in autumn is red and gratifying. Hawthorn is also one of the favorite tree species for many bonsai lovers. Wild hawthorn trees are widely distributed and have strong adaptability to the environment. I like hot and cold, the sun is a little shade-tolerant, and I like fertile and barren. The daily maintenance of potted hawthorn trees is also relatively easy.

Let's talk about the maintenance methods of potted hawthorn trees with flower friends, hoping to help them.

First, the soil is good and easy to manage. Hawthorn trees are not strict with the soil. The most important thing is that the soil needs to be neutral or slightly acidic, and the slightly alkaline soil cannot grow well. Soil alkalization often leads to weak root growth, lush branches and leaves, and often yellow leaves fall off.

It is best to choose loose, breathable and well-drained soil for potted hawthorn trees, which is convenient for later maintenance and management. Usually hawthorn trees can be planted with three parts humus soil, one part garden soil and two parts coarse river sand. Humus soil is loose and fertile, with abundant nutrients. Coarse river sand is beneficial to drainage of soil in the basin.

Second, the hawthorn tree is full of water and grows well. Red fruits will make it prefer moist soil environment, but it has strong drought tolerance and is afraid of water accumulation. During the growing period, it is necessary to keep the basin soil in a moist state without water accumulation. When the topsoil is dry, water it in time. After entering the full fruit season in September, the climate is relatively dry, and hawthorn trees will need more water. Short-term water shortage will easily lead to smaller fruits, more pockmarks on the epidermis and thicker skins.

After entering winter, the fruit is fully mature and the plants are in a dormant state. At this time, the watering times can be reduced, and the basin soil can be kept slightly dry. As long as the soil in the basin is not completely dry, it will be fine. The slightly dry soil in winter is more conducive to improving the cold resistance of potted hawthorn trees. After warming up in spring, the watering frequency can be gradually restored, so that the basin soil is always moist and does not accumulate water.

3. Proper nutrition, eat more fruits, and the fruits are more round. Hawthorn tree itself is very barren, and it can grow normally with little fertilization. However, hawthorn trees grow slowly and have a large amount of flowers and fruits. There is more demand for nutrients in the growing period. Adequate nutrient supply can improve the fruit-setting capacity of hawthorn trees and improve the ornamental effect of potted hawthorn trees. After warming up in spring, it is necessary to replenish sufficient fertilizer to the plants in time, and apply multi-element compound fertilizer with quick-acting fertilizer at least twice a month until the fruit expands, so as to stop applying multi-element compound fertilizer.

At the same time, from April, the application of high phosphorus and potassium fertilizer will be increased 2 ~ 3 times a month to promote the flower bud differentiation of hawthorn trees and make them bear more fruits. Generally, high phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer can act on potassium dihydrogen phosphate. Potassium dihydrogen phosphate was diluted into a solution with a concentration of 0. 1% and applied to hawthorn trees by root irrigation until the hawthorn trees successfully set fruit.

Fourth, the pruning is diligent, the plant shape is good, and the beautiful shape will be more beautiful. Potted hawthorn trees should be pruned frequently to make the plant shape more ornamental. A hawthorn tree without pruning will have messy branches and leaves. Hawthorn pruning can be divided into spring pruning and autumn pruning. Spring pruning should be done before germination. The goal of spring pruning is to prune branches that may affect plant type and preset the development trend of branches. The goal of pruning in autumn is to prune dead branches, diseased branches, long branches, over-dense branches and cross branches. Maintain the plant type of hawthorn and improve the ventilation of the plant itself.
