1) The suspension of the new Magotan is softer than that of the new Passat, and it is more inclined to daily comfort, but the power confidence when driving fast is not as good as that of the new Passat;
2) The sound insulation and noise reduction performance of the new Magotan is slightly better than that of the new Passat subjectively;
3) In some visible details, the materials used by the new Magotan are a little more advanced and luxurious than the new Passat. In terms of interior, the materials and workmanship of Magotan interior are better than that of Heart Passat, and the sound is much better than that of New Passat.
4) Most importantly, the new Passat is not a pure PQ46 platform. It adds a module to the original platform, which is still far behind the pure PQ46 platform of Magotan.
5) In terms of suspension, the new Passat adopts hard connection and the new Magotan adopts rubber pad connection, which is superior to the new Passat in this respect. The new Magotan suspension is made of aluminum, while the new Passat adopts steel.
These five differences, I think, are enough to outline the characteristics of the two cars-the new Passat is younger in direction, while the new Magotan is more stable, luxurious and comfortable. This is exactly the opposite of the impression these two cars gave me in the past, so it is particularly interesting.
In any case, my impression is obtained through personal experience and comparison, based on careful observation and comparison. I guess Volkswagen won't "distribute" the nuances of these two cars so accurately. Their differences in characteristics are more the result of independent research and development of two joint venture brands-Shanghai Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen. Shanghai Volkswagen is likely to develop a new generation Passat based on users' taste for Passat B5, so it keeps the chassis in German style, with a stable design style and some inconspicuous details can be informal. FAW-Volkswagen should develop B7L (the new generation Magotan) on the basis of B6 (the previous generation Magotan), so the suspension maintains the soft style of Magotan, but draws lessons from the previous generation Magotan, paying special attention to improving the atmosphere of the carriage and the high-grade luxury feeling of materials.
From the perspective of research and development. As far as I know, the research and development of the new Passat is based on the NMS project synchronized with North China, and the China team has a high degree of participation in the research and development. In terms of design style and chassis adjustment, China may have a higher say, and the product may (indeed) meet the market demand in terms of "taste". The research and development of the new Magotan is basically a derivative task of the European version of B7, and the technical level is led by German engineers. However, this does not mean that the new Magotan must be the original European Passat, because German engineers will remember that it is a product specially designed for the China market, so it will present the taste of "China car in German eyes" in terms of chassis adjustment, body and luxury interior, which is exactly how I feel about the new Magotan.
