Who put forward the compound teaching?

Hong Jian, from Wuxi, Jiangsu, brought compound teaching back to China when he went to Japan to study in 1902. Compound teaching is one of the forms of teaching organization. Students of two or more grades are grouped in a class, and a teacher teaches students of different grades in the same class with different levels of teaching materials. So compound teaching was put forward by a German teacher.
