I heard that there are several methods for myopia surgery. How to choose the method of myopia surgery?
The surgical treatment of myopia can be divided into scleral surgery, corneal surgery and lens surgery.

Scleral surgery is often used to treat adolescent progressive myopia, but it is not commonly used because of its great trauma and poor predictability.

Corneal surgery is now laser surgery. Laser surgery (PRK, LASIK, LASEK) can achieve very satisfactory results in the treatment of moderate and low myopia, among which LASIK and LASEK also have good effects on some high myopia. However, for ultra-high myopia patients (myopia degree is greater than 65,438+0,000 degrees), some patients may have postoperative visual deterioration, irregular cornea and increased aberration, which will affect the postoperative visual quality. Therefore, laser surgery is not the best choice for ultra-high myopia.

Lens surgery is a new method emerging in recent years, which is suitable for ultra-high myopia patients who can't perform laser surgery and some high myopia patients who can't perform laser surgery because of the thin cornea. It can be divided into refractive intraocular lens replacement, iris clip intraocular lens implantation, angle-supported intraocular lens implantation and posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation. Refractive intraocular lens replacement is to remove the nearsighted lens and implant a specific degree of intraocular lens to treat ultra-high myopia, which is mostly used for patients with ultra-high myopia complicated with cataract. Iris-clip intraocular lens implantation, angle-supported intraocular lens implantation and posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation in phakic eyes are to directly implant intraocular lenses in different positions in the eye through small incisions on the premise of preserving their own lenses. Also known as implantable "contact lenses". This is a high-precision operation, which has been successful in Europe and America for more than ten years, and has done 60 thousand successful operations, which have been proved by FDA and CE. It is a safe and effective treatment and one of the most recommended operations abroad.

The biggest advantage of this operation is that it does not change any structure of the eye, does not damage any tissue of the human body, can obviously improve the visual quality of the patient, is not limited by the degree of myopia, and is reversible (it can be taken out and restored to its original state). Since March, 2007, our hospital has successfully operated on ultra-high myopia 10 cases with myopia degree above 1500 degrees, and the postoperative visual acuity reached 1.0 and 0.8, reaching and exceeding the best corrected visual acuity obtained by ordinary glasses. This kind of operation is the first case in our hospital. At present, only a few hospitals in the province have done it, which provides another safe and effective treatment for patients with ultra-high myopia.
