Jimo Folklore: Two Stories of Huang Jiashan
Huang Jiashan, courtesy name Weishang, also known as Zishan, lived in the 28th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1549) year) was born in Jimo City. He was smart since he was a child and studied in the upper and lower academies at the west foot of Shimen Mountain in Laoshan. In the fourth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1576), he won the imperial examination and the next year he won the imperial examination. "Jimo County Chronicles" written by Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty records that he "lived in the frontier for twenty years, and was appointed to the Privy Council twice". He reached the first rank and was the highest-ranking person in the history of Jimo.
The city god was ordered to go down to Liaoyang
In ancient times, there was Huang Jiashan in Jimo, and Huang Jiashan was a high official.
When he was a child, he once took a self-study class. When he had nothing to do, he looked at the Chenghuang Temple opposite the school. He was thinking about it and wrote a note: "Chenghuang, Chenghuang, orders you to go to Liaoyang." "I'll leave at noon and come back at noon." While the teacher was concentrating on correcting the article, he quietly slipped out and came back again. At this time, the old gentleman who was criticizing the article was dozing off for some reason. Suddenly he heard someone talking to him: "Sir, please tell me a favor. Mr. Huang ordered me to go to Liaoyang. I will leave at this time and return at noon. I can't do it." Please tell me!" The old gentleman woke up and thought about what he just said. He didn't know who this Master Huang was, so he shouted to the students in the class: "Stop it, who is being pretentious again? I'm going to get slapped!" In fact, the old gentleman didn't know what he was saying, but he started correcting the article because of what Cheng Huang said.
After a while, Huang Jiashan slipped out and replaced the original note with another: "City God, City God, please don't go to Liaoyang." The old gentleman never dozed off again. Later, People say that Mr. Huang is Huang Jiashan, an official appointed by the Emperor of Heaven. Otherwise, if he writes a note, the City God will have to listen to it?
The Fox Fairy repays his favor with a favor
Huang Jiashan was originally a civil servant and was very popular in the hands of the emperor. A few treacherous officials became angry and acted evil-heartedly. The emperor issued an imperial edict and asked him to put up his seal and go to war. This really made Huang Jiashan worried, and he was so anxious that he wandered around the marshal's tent. In the evening, an old man with a white beard said to him: "Master Huang, don't worry, I will help you."
Sure enough, Huang Jiashan won every battle when he led his troops. It turns out that this old man with a white beard was transformed into a fox fairy from Jimo Mashan, and he had saved Huang Jiashan before he became an official. So when Huang Jiashan needed help, he went to repay his kindness. After returning from the victorious battle, Huang Jiashan asked the emperor to ask for a title for the old man with white beard. There was a heavenly master next to the emperor. He recognized at a glance that the old man with the white beard was not a human but a fox, so he told the emperor that the emperor's golden mouth and jade teeth could not be sealed casually. If he believed that he had merit, he would be killed. To make a color, use a red pen to put a red dot in the middle of his forehead. After the fox fairy returns to Mashan after seeking the title, he will have a red dot on his forehead for generations to come. It is said that there are no fox fairies on other mountains with this red dot, only the fox fairies on Jimo Ma Mountain have it.
