It is made of eight precious treasures, such as pearls, agates, corals, musk, plum slices, gold foil, amber and monkeys, hence the name "Babao Indy". In the 12th year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (1673), it was initiated by Wei Changan, a medicinal material merchant in Zhai Lihua, Zhangzhou. Babao Inks have eight characteristics: delicate and thick, scarlet in color, bright and gorgeous, not solidified in winter, not oily in summer, not dry in dry days, not moldy in rainy days and never discolored. Even if it is soaked in water for a few days, taken out and used as it is, printed on paper and burned, the imprint is still clearly visible. Therefore, the eight-treasure inkpad quickly swept the world and became famous in Kyoto. Calligraphy, painting and seal cutting circles regard the use of eight-treasure inkpad as elegance.
