Upright shrub, 1-2 meters high; dense branches, slightly angular, yellowish-brown, young branches pubescent, falling off when old; winter buds ovate or oblong-ovate, with sharp apex. There are several brown exposed scales, and the outer cover is sparsely pubescent. The leaves are oblong-lanceolate to lanceolate, 4-8 cm long, 1-2.5 cm wide, with an acute or acuminate apex, a wedge-shaped base, densely sharply serrated edges, sometimes heavily serrated, and hairless on both sides; the petiole is 1- 4mm, hairless. The inflorescence is an oblong or pyramidal panicle, 6-13 cm long, 3-5 cm in diameter, finely pubescent, with dense flowers; the pedicel is 4-7 mm long; the bracts are lanceolate to linear-lanceolate. Shape, entire or with a few serrates, slightly pubescent; flower diameter 5-7 mm; calyx tube bell-shaped; sepals triangular, inner surface slightly pubescent; petals ovate, apex usually blunt, 2- long 3 mm, 2-2.5 mm wide, pink; stamens 50, about 2 times longer than the petals; the disk is annular, and the lobes are finely serrated; the ovary has sparse pubescence, and the style is shorter than the stamens. The follicles are erect, hairless or pubescent along the ventral suture. The styles are terminal, spreading obliquely, and often have reflexed sepals. The flowering period is from June to August, and the fruiting period is from August to September.
