Wuxi Fourth People's Hospital was established in 1976. It is a third-level comprehensive hospital. It is the fourth clinical hospital of Wuxi Cancer Hospital, the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, and the Soochow University School of Medicine. It is also a master's degree program of Nanjing Medical University, Suzhou University and Xuzhou Medical College. The Institute of Clinical Oncology and Molecular Biology of the School of Life Sciences of Soochow University, Wuxi Institute of Cancer Prevention and Treatment, Wuxi Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery Center, and Wuxi Nuclear Medicine Diagnosis and Treatment Center are located in the hospital.

The hospital has 1,029 open beds, with more than 600,000 outpatient and emergency visits per year, and more than 28,000 discharged patients. It has internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, oral cavity, anesthesia, oncology, pathology , imaging, testing, central laboratory and other 48 clinical medical technology departments and 24 wards, including 6 provincial key clinical specialties: Oncology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy Oncology, and General (Oncology) Surgery and Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1 municipal key clinical specialty: Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and 2 key development disciplines of the Municipal Medical Administration Center: Oncology and Pathology. The hospital is characterized by comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of tumors, and has a complete tumor diagnosis and treatment system including surgical oncology (including chest, abdomen, head and neck, etc.), radiotherapy oncology, internal oncology, gynecology oncology, and integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine oncology. More than 17,000 patients with various types of tumors are treated every year, accounting for 56.56% of the total discharges, including nearly 190,000 radiation treatments, 3,168 tumor surgeries, and 7,937 chemotherapy treatments.

The hospital has 1,020 employees, 154 staff with senior professional titles (including 24 members of provincial societies), 25 doctors and 141 masters. In the past three years, the hospital has won 3 provincial natural science foundation projects, 18 provincial and municipal science and technology achievement awards, 39 provincial and municipal medical new technology introduction awards, 22 papers included in SCI, and 14 national patents. Undertaken 24 national and provincial continuing education projects. The hospital has advanced diagnostic and treatment equipment such as Siemens PET/CT, CT, MRI, DSA, ECT, LA, color ultrasound, and large-scale biochemical analyzers.
